WEST FORK, AR – A 10 year old boy will not pledge to the flag in school because of America’s discrimination against homosexuals!
Will Phillips is a fifth grader in the West Forks school district in Arkansas. While discussing the Pledge of Allegiance recently with his parents, he began to think about the meaning behind the words.
“I’ve always tried to analyze things because I want to be lawyer,” Will said. “I really don’t feel that there’s currently liberty and justice for all.”
He became concerned when he realized that family friends who were gay were outlawed from marrying or adopting. So on Monday, October 5, when other students got up to say the Pledge of Allegiance like usual, Will refused to stand.
He agreed to an exclusive interview with CNN to discuss why he did it and what happened:

Will, you rock! I wholeheartedly support you.
I think this young man is incredible and should be commended for his actions. He's amazingly intelligent and well spoken for 10 years old, and I think he'll be a major player in law and politics when he's older. I'm excited to see what this young man can do.
Send them to Canada, or we can title this, "Confessions Of A NAMBLA FAMILY".
You are one sick person that that's the first thing YOU can think of.
This kid is obviously been coached. I doubt a ten year old would come up with all this on his own.
Time will tell.
Well, not most ten-year-olds could come up with this on their own, but he obviously is speaking his own thoughts and doesn't seem coached at all.
Thanks Will, you inspire me!
"confessions of a nambla family" …that carries about as much weight as "michael jackson faked his own death" and "bat boy for nobel peace prize"
…if to you, a father/son relationship means sex, i prescribe seeking as much help as available.
This boy, Will Phillips, is a brave young man. I liken him to Thomas Paine and Patrick Henry, true American men whose "radical" ideas were dismissed due to ignorance and diversity.
will for president!
So nice to see a young person thinking for himself. In taking this stand he made himself a target for not only other children his age, but hateful adults as well. What an incredibly brave child!Think back to your childhood for just a moment and imagine how difficult this must be for him. Good for you Will! You are serving your country well…out of the mouths of babes!
as a 32 year old gay man i agree with will gays don't have any equal rights and that makes me very proud that a 10 year old boy is brave enough to stand up for his beliefs. way to go will and god bless u.
