BRUSSELS – A Belgian teenager is suing a tattoo artist after she allegedly asked for 3 stars on her face, and instead received 56!
Eighteen-year-old Kimberley Vlaminck went to a local parlor called The Tattoo Box, and was given to Romanian tattoo artist Rouslan Toumaniantz. Vlaminck claims that she only asked for three stars to be tattooed on her face. She has stated that he only spoke broken English and French but tried to be clear as possible about what she wanted.
Vlaminck says she then fell asleep during the procedure and awoke to instead find 56 stars across the left side of her face! She is now suing him for $14,000, the cost of the laser surgery she will need to remove the tattoos.
However, Toumaniantz is fighting back, saying that he gave her exactly what she wanted. “She was awake and looked into the mirror several times as the procedure was taking place. The trouble all started when she went home and her father and boyfriend threw a fit.”
Her story does raise a number of questions. Why did she pay and leave the tattoo parlour without complaining? Why was it not a problem until she arrived at home?
And most confusingly, who is capable of falling asleep while a very tender part of their body is being tattooed?

has agreed to pay for half of her laser surgery. While he still stands behind his story, he said, “Kimberley is unhappy and it is not my wish to have an unsatisfied client. There is a way to remove the tattoos with the help of a laser. I accept to pay for half the cost.”

I think the girl is a liar. I find it hard to believe that a tattooist would do something like that against a person's will. How can someone even fall asleep and not feel the tattoo being performed? That just doesn't make any sense to me.

i am a tattooist and have tattooed countless people. needless to say, 3 stars on the face takes a little under 10 minutes to do… i doubt this girl would even have time to daydream during the procedure. even if she took pain killers such as percocet, this would not knock her out. tattoo shops use legal waiver forms explaining the risks and details – which must be filled out before a client sits in the chair. i am in no way opposed to facial tattoos… but i believe that a first-timer should test another part of the body before committing to such a bold tattoo. this girl will not get far with her claim, and will definately NOT be able to nap during the laser removal… (which is not always 100% effective)

I have 7 tats, they hurt, its a god damb needle puncturing your skin 40 times a second. There is no way someone would fall asleep let alone in broken english confuse 3 with 56, also the tatoo artist would put a transfer on your skin to give them a guide as most don not do free hand designs but also to check alignment etc before any ink touches your skin. They would ask you to look in the mirror to see if you like it before hand and then start with the needles. Silly little girl no knowing what she is doing and now wasting the worlds media attention.

ok first of all you cant fall asleep while getting one on your face come on now. I got two small ones on my face and the sound and slight pain (partially for high tolerance) WILL keep you awake. Plus its understandable for the whole dad and boyfriend to be angry cuz it doesnt look all hot anyway. She probly didnt want her Dad to criticize her or her boyfriend so she "claimed" to only want 3. She slowly started to hate it for the persecution ofrom her "beloved ones" and tried to be like everyone else in the world and sue. Shes tryin to get money and away from the situation. She asked for 3 stars, but he asked if more stars wouldn't be better. After she signed a contract (even another client was whiteness) he started tattooing. She couldn't possibly have fallen asleep, and even if so, she woke up knowing that there were 56 stars.

In my studio we would either draw the stars on first in pen or stencil them on to work out the layout of the design then get the client to check that they were happy with the positioning of the tattoo before we tattooed the design. I think she is a selfish stupid girl who may just open the door to law suits against tattoo artist by clients who decided that they have made a mistake and dont want to blame themselves for their poor choice of tattoo. Also I dont think the artist should offer to pay for half of the lazer removal, as that is an admission of guilt. He should stand by his version of events and let it go to court.

She is lying. There is no way someone can misunderstand 3 for 56. She is saying that she spoke as clearly as she could. If you are getting a tattoo from someone who might not understand the way you speak (which is a bad idea) all she had to do was hold up three fingers. I would have written a big 3 on a piece of paper. I would have did everything possible to make sure they understood 3!!
It is obvious that she made that whole story up when she noticed the reaction of her father and boyfriend.

The face has so many nerves that I can only see her falling asleep if she took something before actually have the procedure done. BTW….according to what I know and I don't know about Belgium, you can't be on any time of drug or alcohol when getting a tattoo or the artist can refuse to tattoo.
The tattoo looks interesting and unique. I would have it done of my side rather than my face. I think she was rather cool with it until she had to go home and show daddy. Then she turned around and decided to sue him for 14K. But I do have respect for the tattoo artist who is willing to pay for half even though it's what she wanted in the first place.

i just had my first tattoo the other day (on my foot) and while it did hurt and was irritating as hell, not once did i almost fall asleep or even think about sleeping. i think she wasnt sure about her decision, which was validated by her dad when she got home and is a dumb shit for feeling she has no other way to escape than to lie. i think that she should have to pay for laser on her own if she wants them off, and that the artist should get ahold of everything he can to prove shes lying. dumb girl

It's obvious what happened here, there shouldn't even be doubt in anyone's mind for a second about whether or not she received the tattoo she asked for or not. I received a tattoo on my belt-line and my foot and there was no way in hell I was falling asleep during any of it because of the pain. And normally, don't tattoo artists use a transfer of the pattern that they put on the skin first, and then they trace that with the ink and needle? So I wouldn't doubt that she had the pattern on her face before he even touched the needle to her skin, and she approved it. I don't know how she didn't premeditate that her father and boyfriend would flip out when she came home looking like the way she does…it's bad. And I personally would not get a tattoo from the man pictured here. I don't have anything against him, and he's probably a great guy, but he seems a bit over the top, and I would hope that that did not also reflect in the work that he did for customers. It says that he is going to pay for half of the laser removal surgery, but I really hope that he has a change of heart. That is just rewarding this girl's retarded behavior.

I think the biggest questions running through my mind is Did she do any research on the artist who was doing the tattoo? even if she had planned to have 56 stars tattooed on her face (which im pretty sure she did) she should have looked at the artists portfolio. The stars are just not good, even if there were only 3 they still wouldnt be good. How did she not predict how people were going to react? Its common sense that tattoos – especially face tattoos are pretty frowned upon. in my opinion her saying she fell asleep and woke up like that is an out right lie she knew full well what she was having done, but did not think of the conseqences, and now doesnt want her family to disapprove of her choices. I think the artist is a bigger person that I ever would be by offering to pay for half the surgery – hopefully he changes his mind and the girl is stuck having to suffer the consequences for being young and dumb.

There is not a chance in hell that she woke up to find herself covered in tattoos! I have 5 tattoos, in different parts of my body, and never could I have fallen asleep. I don't think they're really painful but they do sting a bit. There is also no way she could have fallen asleep before the '3' were supposed to have been finished. They are tiny and would have taken no time at all. It would have been over before she had time to get comfy on the seat! Also, the tattooist didn't understand the number 3 but understood 'stars on my face'? Don't think so sweetie! I know in Belgium you do not have to sign forms saying you understand the risks, etc., as I had my last one done by a reputable tattooist when I visited there last year, but still, they do discuss everything with you – where, what, size, etc.
Stupid, stupid girl. I feel really sorry for the tattoo artist, who stumped up half the fee for laser surgery as he didn't want an unsatisfied customer. It shows he's a really caring individual in my estimation. I'd have told her to jump off the nearest bridge!

I have a VERY high pain tolerance but then again that wasn’t a very painful place to get them so I completely thing she us telling aa falsehood. It’s very big of the artist to pay for even any of it all.

Ace- a couple of years ago a young Boca Juniors fan went into a tattoo shop in Buenos Aires to have his team's favourite logo done on his back. He was all up on how great Boca is and how much better they are that cross-town rivals River Plate, so much so that the artist, alas for the kid, happened to be a River fan. What did he do? He tattooed a Boca logo on his back alright- in the shape of a penis! The kid didn't find out until he got home and showed ma and pa his new tattoo.

Now I’ve been under the tatoo needle three times so far. It is a little painful but I have a high tolerance for pain and my tat artist allows me to bring my own cd while being tattooed. The combination of mellow music, the hum of the gun, and laying down for over an hour after working 11 hours lulled me to nearly to sleep.
However, this girl was supposed to get 3 stars. There is no way she could have possibly fallen asleep in the amount of time it would take to do that. Plus, tattoo artists usually do a transfer before starting the tat and I’m certain it would be done on such a prominent tat. Also, she would have looked in the mirror before leaving and either noticed a buttload of stars or that half her face had been bandaged and known something was up! Not to mention the cost for 56 stars would be significantly higher than for 3 and should’ve raised an eyebrow. She’s just a spoiled little girl who’s used to getting her way and she probably will again.
