EVERGLADES CITY, FL – A group of Florida men videotaped and caught a 750 pound mako shark!
Jamie Bunn, Danny Massa, Jeremy Huston and John Monti went swordfishing on Saturday, off of the Point Everglades Inlet. About 18 miles offshore, they noticed a dead swordfish floating in the water, being circled by a mako shark.
The men decided to lasso the dead fish and draw it up against the boat, so they could get a good look at the shark. Angry over the loss of its food, it began biting the boat’s exhaust and propellers!
After much struggle, they were able to get the shark gaffed and tied. But after almost three hours, they were unable to get it into the boat. “We realized we had a fish well north of 600 pounds when we couldn’t get it in the boat,” Bunn said.
The four men decided to just tie it to the back of the boat and tow it into the marina, where it weighed in at 748 pounds!
Why is it ok for the shark to hunt and kill the swordfish it was eating, but not ok for people to hunt it? Do you think the shark killed the swordfish it was eating in a gentile manor? This was a 750 pound Mako, people pay around $15/lb for this in restaurants. I don’t think it will go to waste.
maybe its cause i'm tired as hell from driving 40 hrours in the past days or havent read the full artcicle, but where does it say they KILLED the shark? all i see is they towed it and weighed it. unless it was in the video, which my 14 yr old computer isnt letting me watch. long live windows 95/98! an that male ego comment is uncalled for, i know many women who are just as bad if not worse
I read this to say that the shark was already dead! That's what the article says! They were trying to bring in, and eventually towed, a dead shark!!! I mean, did you people read this article! I never mentions them killing the Maco!

Bet they are stumped by the idea people are upset with them, gleen the population, they can go just like the poor shark, dress the 3 of them out and tow behind the boat, they also probably weighted about 750lbs, was that a waste or was that a necessary step to level the field in the wild?

Sharks are not endangered. They have hurt to many innocent people. In fact we have too many of them. It might have been foolish to bring it in for weight it but it could have been for another reason if you were not their.

Makes me sick! The news reported "don't feel sorry for the shark, the meat was divided between 20 friend" once again it just makes me sick.
The best part about this entire unfortunate event is, that shark probably didn't "really" weigh that much on it's own. Swordfish are quit large, upwards of 1,400lbs + So in reality, they caught a "fat" shark that had a full belly! I recently moved to Florida and I hate it! I will be moving very shortly due to the fact that this state is so bass ackwards it's unreal. These 3 guys are the majority in this state. I'm actually surprised they didn't stick dynamite in it, laugh about the explosion and then whip out their wallets and share pics of their own sisters naked to each other. Ya no wat I meen! Again, this is from a state that said, "Arts what, Orlando doesn't need no performing arts center thing. What we gonna need that for?"
If I had the chance I'd do the same thing to those so-called "fishermen". LOVE to see them hanging from a rope!

What you folks fail to realize is that a shark is a vicious man eating apex predator killing machine that only takes breaks from it's orgiastic eating of desperate Haitian and Cuban refugees to have movements. Sharks are actually occupying a niche that can readily be filled by Norwegian fishing vessels and should consequently be eradicated immediately.

did they kill it for "sport' or as a pecauction because if they let it continue to attack the exhaust and propellers they would be in real trouble like taking on water and sinking? but if this was just for sport what is being done?
You guys cant read! The news article said it was biting the hull of the boat and the propellers. The shark was attacking them. Of course they had a right to bring it in. Also, couldn't this shark be a threat to divers, and swimmers?
