NEW YORK, NY – A former football great has made a shocking personal move!
Tiki Barber was always admired for being a professional on the football field and a devout family man. He certainly etched a name for himself within the NFL playing for the Giants, and he walked away from the game he loved to be a husband and a father. Times change and so do people, and Barber has opted to leave his wife Ginny for former NBC intern Traci Lynn Johnson.
Barber is leaving his wife of 11 years and who is currently 8 months pregnant for the 23-year-old blonde smokeshow. Ginny became aware of the relationship last year after the running-back moved out of their home in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
“After 11 years of marriage, Ginny and I have decided to separate,” Barber said in a statement on Tuesday. “The decision was a painful one, but we are moving forward amicably and will continue to work together to raise our children with the love and dedication they have always known.”
Johnson was photographed sitting next to Barber last month at a Washington D.C. screening of a documentary on Senegal that he hosted for the Travel Channel. It is also widely believed that Johnson was with Barber last year in Senegal for the filming of the documentary, while Ginny was three months pregnant.
The split comes as a shock to many, given Barber’s dislike for his father’s cheating ways.
“I don’t give a (expletive) that the relationship didn’t work,” he said of his parents’ split in a 2004 interview with the Post. “Not only did he abandon her, I felt like he abandoned us for a lot of our lives. I have a hard times forgiving that.”
