CANARY ISLANDS – A perfect rectangle of criss-crossing lines has been found on the ocean floor 620 miles off the coast of West Africa. Is this the lost city of Atlantis?
Bernie Bamford from Chester, UK found the figure while using Google Ocean to explore the sea. Its existence is even more perplexing as the grid is about 3.5 miles down.
Some believe it is the city of Atlantis, a great island civilization that Plato believed sank around 9,700 BC. Dr Charles Orser, curator of historical archaeology at New York State University and an authority on Atlantis, said, “The site is one of the most prominent places for the proposed location of Atlantis. Even if it turns out to be geographical, it definitely deserves a closer look.”
But Google is doubting this theory. A spokesperson stated, “It’s true that many amazing discoveries have been made in Google Earth. In this case, however, the image is an artifact of the data collection process, not the city of Atlantis. Boats use sonar to take measurements of the seafloor and the lines shown reflect the path of the boat as it gathers the data.”

I do believe that it could be the lost city of atlantis, other than the obvious fact that it seems to be in the perfect place. It seems fairly clear that google are just trying to cover it up, cause where they say "the image is an artifact of the data collection process, not the city of Atlantis. If that statement is true then surely there would be more "lines that reflect the path of the boats" all over the sea in google earth. The fact that this is the only one that has been found, and its location quite significant, makes me think that there is definately something down there. Most likely the lost city of atlantis. I hope that it gets explored, maybe we will get answers.
You are right of course, it certainly is possible this it is just one of the cities on the huge continent of Atlantis. The size of De Bory's map, of which I have an original print, shows the eastern coastline of Atlantis indicates that there would have been many cities from the Azores down to Cape Verde islands. This eastern fringe of Atlantis , called the Hesperides, is so big that everyone should start searching for altenative cities to prove this is a cover-up.
Perhaps Dr Ballard has made an offer that Google couldn't refuse, to secure the location for his own research purposes. Few others could compete anyway.

The biggest mystery is Hippodromus Aethiopiae located first by Henry the Navigator on the west coast of Africa in the vicinity of Nouakchott in Mauritania. As the sport of Kings was horse-racing as the sport of the kings of Atlantis by Plato, was this relocated by the Atlantean Kings after their 'escape' ?
Bermuda remains one of the most interesting clues. In Homeric greek Ber means abyss Mu is allegedly the name the Atlanteans gave their continent.

A Cuban Atlantis (at least a Caribbean one) would make a lot of sense. It would explain all of the underwater anomalies in the Caribbean, like the Bimini Road. It would explain the Bermuda Triangle. It would explain why there was pyramids on 2 continents instead of 1. It would explain the "alleged" maps of Chris Columbus.
It also raises the possibility that the Aztec, the Inca, and/or the Mayan came from Atlantis.

Atlantis is probably under two miles of ice on the coast of Antartica, having moved there during the last earth crustal displacment. Plato describes it as being in the navel of the world, surrounded by ocean on all sides, with snow capped mountains in the background. As all the ice continues to melt, maybe it will show itself, if there are any humans around to notice it.
