NEW YORK, NY – John Mayer, known as somewhat of a bad boy, has gotten himself in quite the pickle over his choice of words in a Playboy interview!
John Mayer has landed in hot water over his use of the “N Word” in a recent Playboy interview. As any celebrity does nowadays, Mayer took to his twitter page to apologize. “I am sorry that I used the word. I should have never said the word and I will never say it again,” Mayer proclaimed in a series of tweets.
In his interview, Mayer talked about sex, his former girlfriends Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson, and about black women and his lack of a “hood pass”, which by many were seen as racist comments. Mayer said, “Someone asked me the other day, ‘What does it feel like now to have a hood pass?’ And by the way, it’s sort of a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you could call it a n—– pass.”
Mayer made sure that wasn’t his only controversial statement. In regards to his sex life, Mayer said he doesn’t date black women because his penis is “sort of like a white supremacist.”
His remarks have created a whole storm of controversy and outrage. “John Mayer should not open his mouth unless he is singing,” said Joell Ortiz on his Twitter page. Singer, Marwa, also added, “Damn John Mayer; he is racist.” This is certainly not Mayer’s first lapse in judgement. It almost seems as though once we start t forget about his last incident, he gives us something new to think about.

He used his words how he wanted to and it is what it is. My oppinion is that he earned his pass and it seems like the its more white people getting angry over this subject than us blacks! Think about it if he didnt love us then he wouldnt have felt free enough to use the word in the first place. It’s not the word. It's the image of a white person saying the word that's offensive. And that comes from history. From separate water fountains, to blacks not being allowed to sit a Woolworth Lunch Counter, to the right of a white child to tell black man to get to the back of the bus–and the cops and judges having the child's back. Laws were changed, and attitudes have improved. But all this whining about whites not being able to say that word shows a ridiculous lack of understanding and respect, and it speaks to an underlying resentment at the idea that a black person be allowed a single freedom not granted to whites.
No, it doesn't. It is the fact that using race as a factor is considered okay now, AS LONG AS it isn't in favor of whites, even though it wasn't coming from whites 50 years ago. That is ludicrous. I am from the Caribbean and I do not use the N word or respond to it. It kills me to see people refer to themselves with derogatory words then fuss when someone else does. I might be tempted to slap a person if I am referred to as "ho,bitch, or nigga as I was not raised that way nor do I train my sons that way. We need to first respect ourselves, think highly of who we are and maybe less slurs will be directed at us.
The racial thing is relatively new to me, I was never raised to see differences and for the life of me I cant. In the meantime if rappers/entertainers continue to use nigga, ho , and bitch and people laugh dance and pay for it then making a fuss is moot. I have too much respect for myself to use these terms but for those who uses it to describe themselves just shut up and stop been such hypocrites.
Funny, only white people make a big deal out of what other white people say. You would never see a Japanese get mad at another Japanese for calling a white person a "Gaijin," or a Mexican get mad at another Mexican for calling a white person "Gringo," or a black person get mad at another black person for calling a white person a "honky, cracker, peckerwood." WOW! John Mayer is not a racist, but even if he was- what would it matter? He still would sing awesome and be extremely good looking.
