NEW YORK, NY – Pamela Anderson’s latest PETA ad is causing a little controversy!
PETA’s marketing campaign has been nothing sort of brilliant – for the most part. Find some of the sexiest celebrities in the world, get them as close to naked as they can and use them them to promote their mission – to promote animals rights. Sometimes, however, PETA may push the envelope a little too far and such is the case with their latest ad.
Pamela Anderson can be sexy wearing a full winter’s outfit. Strip her down to a bikini and all bets are off. In her latest ad with PETA, Anderson poses in a bikini and her body is covered in marks suggestive of a butcher’s diagram and different parts of her body are labelled ‘rump,” “ribs,” “breast,” etc. The ad’s caption reads, “All Animals Have the Same Parts.”
While the message seems well-intentioned, Canada doesn’t seem to agree with it. The PETA ad has been banned in Canada for being “sexist” and treating the actress like a piece of meat. Canadian officials denied a permit for an event that being held for launching Anderson’s new animal-rights ad, claiming the ad is sexist.
“In a city that is known for its exotic dancing and for being progressive and edgy, how sad that a woman would be banned from using her own body in a political protest over the suffering of cows and chickens,” the New York Daily News quoted Anderson as saying.
A spokesman for Montreal City council said the ad “goes against all principles public organizations are fighting for in the everlasting battle of equality between men and women.”
PETA is one to always stand by its ads and their Senior Vice President said in a statement: “I think that city officials are confusing ‘sexy’ with ‘sexist.'”
