IT'S GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS DAY!

Today is the 17th Annual Guinness World Records Day… go out there and break a record!!
Hundreds of thousands of people have been taking part in events to celebrate Guinness World Records Day.
The Grand Canal Theatre in Dublin saw the largest ever gathering of leprechauns in one place, as 262 people dressed up for a place in the record books (see picture above).
The picture below is of Svetlana Pankratova, who has longest legs on record, nearly 52 inches, according the people atGuinness World Records.  She’s pictured with the smallest man in the world – Pingping, from China, and, at 2 ft. 5 in..

And here’s the world’s biggest horse, with the world’s smallest horse:

Today marks the seventh annual Guinness World Records Day, which will see more than 300,000 enthusiastic go-getters around the globe attempt to break some wacky and wonderful records.

And in Utah earlier this year, they brok the record for the number of people running around in their underwear.  Way to go Utah!

The event commemorates the day in 2004 when Guinness World Records became the world’s bestselling copyright book and brings together people all over the world in their record breaking feats.
Highlights to look out for over the course of the day include:

  • The UK and US offices from tech and gadgets website Gizmodo facing off against each other in an attempt to set a new record for the fastest time to type the alphabet on an iPad
  • The largest gathering of leprechauns in Dublin, Ireland
  • Vim Hof’s attempt to recapture his Longest full body ice endurance record live on US TV
  • Official Xbox 360 Magazine’s stab at setting a record time for the fastest completion of the ‘Stay Sharp’ level on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3

Already today, this man set the record for saying the word “firetruck” in six hours.  He said it 10,451 times!
