HOW TO TAKE COMPLIMENTS

The way you react to compliments reveals a lot about you, says an expert!
“People generally respond to a compliment in some characteristic manner,” explained noted psychologist Dr. Herbert Hoffman. “When told they look attractive, are nicely dressed or have done something praiseworthy, they normally have a ready response that offers telltale clues as to what that person is really like.”
Here are what your reactions reveal about you:
THE BLUSHER. Super sensitive blushers are “gentle souls, easily hurt and not open to suggestion or criticism,” says Dr. Hoffman. “They tend to be extremely sympathetic.”
THE QUESTIONER. This person who responds to a compliment by saying “Who me?” or “Really?” is every eager to please.
“He gets along well with people and bends over backward to be accepted,” said Dr. Hoffman.
THE MINIMIZER. Downplaying a compliment marks you as one who wants to avoid the spotlight and keep a low profile. “They have a noncompetitive and ‘live-and-let-live’ philosophy,” said Dr. Hoffman.
THE TRADER. Giving praise in return to a compliment denotes a self-sufficient, independent person who avoids being beholden to anyone.
THE JOKER. You pay him a compliment and he jokingly replies “You’re kidding” or “How much is this going to cost me?”
“This person values his privacy and keeps people from getting too close.”
THE GLORY SHARER. Someone who shares the glory with others is a “team player,”  a considerate, charitable individual who works much better in a group than on his own, Dr. Hoffman said.
