BILL CLINTON TO INTRODUCE MITT ROMNEY

Bill Clinton has accepted an invitation to introduce Mitt Romney at the Republican National Convention this evening.

Clinton is getting a prime-time speaking slot at the Republican convention.  There was speculation that Clint Eastwood would be the “surprise speaker” but it’s not “Clint” it’s “Clinton” that is the big surprise.

“President Clinton oversaw the longest economic expansion in U.S. history, pursuing many of the same policies that Mitt Romney is advocating,” reportedly said Mike Huckabee, a longtime friend of Bill Clinton.  “As a former governor, he’s the perfect choice to introduce Mitt Romney, and I think he’s going to electrify the crowd.”

Clinton plans to discuss the economy before he formally introduces Romney, who will then give his acceptance speech.

Obama strategist David Axelrod is not concerned about Clinton introducing Romney.  “I think the RNC is making a big mistake, assuming they know what Bill will say.  We all know he fully supports President Obama, so I would be very nervous if I was in that room this evening.”

Clinton has become close to former presidents George H.W. Bush and George Bush and has reportedly been “leaning Republican” for years.  “He feels that the Democrat Party has gone too far to the left and Bill has no choice but to join the Republican party,” said a close friend of Clinton’s.

Bill Clinton is particularly close to George W. Bush.  The duo will reportedly campaign together for Mitt Romney.

The Romney-Bill Clinton relationship has always been a smooth one and the two men reportedly get along very well.  Bill is also quite fond of Mitt’s wife, Ann:

Last night, Clinton briefly appeared on stage with Paul Ryan – several hours before Ryan made his acceptance speech.

Earlier this year, Clinton raised eyebrows by saying that Romney had a “sterling” business career and appearing to question Obama’s attacks on it.

Some say that Bill Clinton has been undermining Barack Obama’s re-election bid, but he has been doing it in a subtle manner. Not tonight.  Bill Clinton will reportedly make it known exactly how he feels about Barack Obama – and Mitt Romney.

Bill Clinton aides told WWN that the former President will still introduce Barack Obama at the Democratic convention in Charlotte, North Carolina next week.

What is Bill Clinton up to?

  1. Sorry, Frank, it turned out to be Clint Eastwood after all. Talking to an empty chair, no less. Anything to divert the attention from the issues. ;-p
