After eight seasons, Grant Wilson is leaving SyFy’s hit show “Ghost Hunters.” Jerry Seinfeld is stepping in.
Wilson’s spot wasn’t been vacant for long.
Comedian Jerry Seinfeld will be taking Wilson’s position on the show, according to an announcement. The funnyman is known mostly as the lead in “Seinfeld,” the celebrated NBC sitcom that ran for nine seasons, as well as a legendary career in stand-up. According to sources, “Ghost Hunter” producers hope to reinvigorate the show with Seinfeld’s famous observational humor and witticisms.
“What’s the deal with ghosts?” said a cryptic promotional ad, shortly before the announcement was made.
Wilson has lead investigations with Jason Hawes for eight seasons to date, exploring allegedly haunted locations with their group, The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS). Seinfeld is apparently the newest member of the group, with no apparent experience in any sort of ghost hunting.
“It’s a slap in the face for fans,” said one message board user. “They just brought in somebody they thought would boost the ratings. He’s funny, but he just doesn’t fit into our beloved show.”
Comment sections and boards were ignited once more today after it was announced that most of the upcoming ghost hunting is to be done strictly in Long Island and surrounding areas, where Seinfeld lives with his family. According to sources, the comedian refused to come to the program if it required a great deal of travel.
Not everyone is unhappy with the decision. Clinton Male, a diehard fan of the show and manager of several fansites, thinks the bold move could help the show’s longevity.
“I think the producers may have been right on this one,” Male said. “We all just want to see this show go on forever, and we know Seinfeld is great at taking concepts and prolonging them on and on.”
Maybe they could entice Jimmy JJ Walker and Stephen Wright too, ya know, really mix it up.

Seinfeld and Ghost Hunters are two different animals. For those of us who truly believe in the possibility of ghosts and spirits, the combination of these two together will cause no one to take the show seriously. This is reality TV not a comedy! One of the reasons I watch this show over other "ghost" shows is because it does not appear scripted or enhanced. Not any more –
This was my favorite show. I set all aside for Ghost Hunters night. Friends get together on this night, alot of them. If this is true this was my last episode. The beauty of this show is that it was real and not staged like other paranormal shows. How can they even imagine J.S. taking Grant's place. He is an actor, how can we ever believe this show again. I am very sorry to see Grant leave the show. But, I doubt very much that I will be watching again… I think Seinfeld is going to destroy the atmosphere of the show. Ghost hunters is not a comedy… and Seinfeld has no business being on it.

This will be the demise of this show if they actually bring in Seinfeld to replace Grant. I agree with everyone else that this is not a comedy and with no training in this area what do they think Jerry will add? I too am going to quit watching if they try to replace Grant with Seinfeld, there is no way to replace Grant. This reminds me of the wonderful decision a few years back about adding Dennis Miller to Monday Night Football, that was a disaster.
It is just a “Show” and there are no hoaxes if there are no disclaimers that what is discovered are actual events. Folks, this is just entertainment, Seinfeld is a proven entertainer. This “Show” may have had the feeling of a some sort of documentary or a fact finding “Show” that at the end revealed it’s finding, but this “Show” has move well past that. I have watched this show from the beginning. I like that they don't resort to scary music or fake images to bring ratings. They are supposed to be a serious team, looking for the truth. I have nothing against Seinfeld as a comedian, but to put him into this position where he has no experience is an insult to the viewers. It will take away any of the legitimacy the show has earned over the years. There is only one Grant Wilson, but certainly they can find a more appropriate replacement for his professional, high integrity level of work. Hopefully it is a joke, because if it isn't, the show won't last through the season. If you want us to take you seriously, you have to look beyond ratings and find someone who will stay on track with the theme of the show. Good luck, Grant. I hope we can see you again, but if not, thank you for all of your hard work.
I'm very upset that Grant is leaving! GH will never be d same but, my love for d program is importment to my life! I throughly injoy watching for I've seen many ghost n my life. I have always loved Ghost Hunters and am very sad that Grant is leaving. But if they want to bring a sense of comedy to the show I say screw Seinfeld and bring Meatloaf on full time with the crew. He was awesome and he is a lot more experienced than Jerry Seinfeld. Plus only staying in the Long Island area is stupid, what if a family with children or something needs TAPS help? What are they gonna say, "Oh sorry we can help, we have to stay in the Long Island area." TAPS has always been about finding truth and helping those in need not some stupid ratings. They have survived this long without him, they don't need him now.

I love Ghost Hunters and have watched, like most other fans, since day one. I follow the team on twitter and have a few of there feeds programed to alert my phone when they post a tweet. I actually found out about this article through a tweet Jason sent out a few minutes ago, it read "some thought this was serious. Its the freaken "Weekly World News" Come on!!". He included the link to this page in the tweet as well. Jason's always come across as a stratight forward guy. If you ask something he doesn't want to or can't answer, then he flat says, I can't answer you right now, or he says just watch/wait and all will be revealed.
