STUDY: WATCHING TV WILL KILL YOU

A new study found that watching too much television will cut 10-15 years off your life.
Researchers from the University of Melbourne, Australia say every hour of TV watching after age 25 cuts almost 2 hours off the viewer’s lifespan.

For the study – published in the August 15 issue of  Royal Journal of Sports Medicine- researchers looked at TV viewing habits of 99,000 Aussies from the decade-long Australian Diabetes, Obesity and Lifestyle survey. Compared with adults who watch no TV, Australians who spend a lifetime average of 6 hours per day in front of the tube “can expect to live 14.3 years less,” the authors wrote.
The study’s author says watching television is much more unhealthy than smoking or being obese.
“While smoking rates are declining, watching TV is not, which has implications at a population level,” Dr. Babu Vandalam professor from the school of population health at the university, told WWN.

What exactly about television watching dramatically shortens lifespan?
It’s hard to pinpoint a direct cause. “The more time we spend watching TV, the more time we spend eating mindlessly in front of the TV, and the less time we spend being physically active,” Dr. Abraham Waks, founding director of the prevention research center at Yale University School of Medicine, told WWN. That in turn “means greater risk for obesity, and the chronic diseases it tends to anticipate, notably diabetes, heart disease and cancer.”

This isn’t the first time experts have pointed the finger at TV for contributing to health woes and higher death rates.   WWN previously reported a Harvard study of TV junkies showed two hours per day of tube time ups risks for developing type 2 diabetes by 70 percent and heart disease by 40 percent. More than three hours of daily viewing increased death risk across all diseases.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could extend your lifestyle by just pushing a button? You might want to start with the one in the top right corner of your TV remote.
And don’t think that staring at Facebook or the Internet is any better?   A new study is underway that proves the Internet to be equally deadly.

Here’s the U.S. cities with the most deaths caused by people watching too much TV:
Greenwich, CT
Lexington, KY
Newton, MA
Toledo, OH
Santa Monica, CA
Omaha, NB
Fort Wayne, IN
Sioux Falls, SD
Elk Grove, IL

Corpus Cristi, TX

  1. TV is a teacher and a stimulator.
TV can activate parts of the mind unconsciously on your part conscious level and also will at times act as an imaginative tool that can inspire you for good and bad things in the real world.
TV can be a dangeorus thing to the inner mind by overstimulate your inner being in ways you do not realize, so periodic meditation in the real world is good, in other words, be down to earth more often, and avoid mental preoccupation when you watch TV.
