DALLAS – The Flying Car is now available. Rick Perry immediately purchased 150,000 flying cars for use by Texas law enforcement.
The “Transition” flying car by Terrafugia has just been made available to the general public and the government is adding incentives for consumers to buy the flying automobile.
Terrafugia, the Massachusetts-based flying car company, has mastered, not only the complex aerodynamics of a flying car, but also the complex requirements for selling a street-legal aircraft. The company was granted four exemptions by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for the Transition.
The Transition will be on the market in September, 2011.
Rick Perry, the Texas Governor, has made the first mass purchase of the Transition. He wants all law enforcement officers in Texas to be able to fly their cars and “catch the bad guys.” Perry said he will hire an addition 2,000 Flying Car Officers (FCOs) by the end of summer.
The Transition, is a two-seater aircraft is a four-wheel car. The car has plastic rather than glass in its window and motorcycle tires rather than specialized versions of car tires. Last year, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA’s) granted the company a critical exemption that allowed Transition an extra 110 pounds over the maximum weight typically allowed for light sport aircraft. The FAA just greenlit the car for flight.
Get ready to soar, get on board your flying car!!
