OZZIE GUILLEN: ASIANS TREATED BETTER THAN LATINOS

CHICAGO, IL – One baseball manager is upset over the way the MLB treats some of its players!
Ozzie Guillen has been a very animated manager – to say the least – from his first day on the bench. The White Sox Manager has never been shy about voicing his opinion and his opinions have often gotten him in trouble or started some kind of fire. Guillen is up to his old tricks and has given the MLB world his latest nugget of wisdom.
The outspoken manager says that Asian players are given privileges in the United States that Latinos are not afforded. He also added that he was the “only one” in baseball teaching young players from Latin America to stay away from performance-enhancing drugs and that Major League Baseball does not care about that.
Guillen’s rant also included his displeasure with the fact that Japanese players are assigned interpreters when they come to the United States to play professionally; Latinos do not receive the same service, he said.
“Very bad,” Guillen said Sunday before his team beat the Athletics, 4-1. “I say, why do we have Japanese interpreters and we don’t have a Spanish one? I always say that. Why do they have that privilege and we don’t?”
He added: “Don’t take this the wrong way, but they take advantage of us. We bring Japanese players and they are very good and they bring all these privileges to them. We bring a Dominican kid – Go to the minor leagues, good luck. Good luck. And it’s always going to be like that. It’s never going to change. But that’s the way it is.”
Guillen’s rant may have been fueled by a recent trip to go see his son Oney, play in Class A. He said the team had an interpreter for a Korean player who “made more money than the players.”
“And we had 17 Latinos, and you know who the interpreter was? Oney. Why is that? Because we have Latino coaches? Because here he is? Why? I don’t have the answer,” Guillen said.
