NEW YORK, NY – Beauty is pain and for one woman that has never been more true!
Debrahlee Lorenzana is a stunning brunette with beauty that draws the attention of males and the envy of many females. The 33-year-old Queens woman is certainly easy on the eyes but apparently began to be a distraction in her workplace. It seems as though that beauty of hers was the downfall to her career at Citibank. She is suing the banking giant because she claims that she was fired for being too sexy and distracting to her male co-workers.
“Everything I wore was professional, things everybody wears in corporate America,” Lorenzana told The NY Post. “The way they looked at what I wore was very disappointing.”
Lorenzana worked as a business banking officer for Citibank from September 2008 to August 2009, when she was fired. Her lawsuit claims that she was fired for two simple reasons. One was that she was not opening enough new accounts. The other was that despite dressing appropriately by any reasonable business standard, she was told by at least two managers to stop wearing heels and tailored clothing that accentuated her curves and other bodily assets.
In the lawsuit, Lorenzana goes so far as to say that other women in the office were allowed to dress the way she was not allowed to dress because the other woman were not blessed with her same stunning attributes. It seems as though her “blessing” is turning out to be more of a curse.
“She was punished because her male bosses couldn’t handle their libidos,” Lorenzana’s lawyer, Jack Tuckner, said.
When the single mother made her pleas to her bosses about other women dressing the same, if not more provocatively, they countered. They said that the other women didn’t have to worry about turning them on “as their general unattractiveness rendered moot their sartorial choices, unlike plaintiff,” her filings say.
New York City is known, in part, as a city that holds fashion and beauty to a very high standard. Women wearing form fitting clothes and accentuating their assets in a tasteful yet revealing way has become somewhat of the norm in the business world. Anyone living or working in Manhattan can attest to the fact that the city is full of very sexy women who dress very stylishly. A casual stroll during lunch time in the city can turn into a fashion show and you’re bombarded by countless good looking women dressed in exceptional outfits. This case is certainly very interesting and it is going to be an uphill battle for Debrahlee Lorenzana.
