NEW TIGER WOODS COMMERCIAL

AUGUSTA, GA – Tiger Woods make his return to golf today, but his return to commercials has sparked some controversy!
Nike released a new commercial featuring Woods on the eve that he would make his return to golf at the Masters tournament. The 33-second black and white ad features the golfer facing the camera while the voice of his father, who died in 2006, is played.
“Tiger, I am more prone to be inquisitive, to promote discussion,” Earl Woods says. “I want to find out what your thinking was. I want to find out what your feelings are. Did you learn anything?”
The commercial is as much evocative as it is controversial. It doesn’t necessarily fall into Nike’s usual theme of inspiration and or motivation. It’s of a serious nature and is reflective and it is certainly aimed at rebuilding the image of a fallen great. It is well chronicled that Earl Woods was a deeply influential person in Tiger’s life. Many arguing that the new TV ad is selling out his dead father in hopes of piecing together his broken image.
“Some people will say great, you are addressing it, you are not putting your head in the sand as a corporate sponsor or you individually,” said ESPN anchor Mike Tirico. “I think other people, some of the folks who are predisposed to not be pulling for Tiger as he returns to the golf course, are going to feel ever farther in the other direction.”
