TURKEY – A group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical Christians have made an incredible discovery – or so they claim!

The claims by an evangelical Christian filmmaker and Turkish scientists are that they have discovered Noah’s Ark encased in ice on Mount Ararat. The findings have been met with both excitement and skepticism. They are not the first group to make such a “findings,” but despite the countless rumors, claims of sightings and expeditions, no scientific evidence of the Ark has been provided.

According to Genesis 8:4, the Ark came to rest “in the mountains of Ararat.” Experts have come to the agreement that the mountains mentioned in the bible are located in present-day Armenia and eastern Turkey.

Yeaung Wing-cheung of Hong Kong is one of the men behind these recent claims. “We are not saying that we are 100 percent certain that what we found is Noah’s Ark. No one has ever seen the ark, no one knows what it looks like,” he said. “We are only 99 percent certain that it is Noah’s Ark based on historical accounts, including the Bible and local beliefs of the people in the area, as well as carbon dating.”

“The significance of this find is that for the first time in history the discovery of Noah’s Ark is well documented and revealed to the worldwide community,” Dutch Ark researcher Gerrit Aalten said at a press conference announcing the findings. He’s been called in to verify the validity of this new finding.

Local Turkish officials have begun the process of asking the central government in Ankara to apply for UNESCO World Heritage status so the site may be protected and a major archaeological dig may commence.
