CLINTONVILLE, Wis. – Authorities are perplexed over the strange, loud noises heard in the eastern part of the state.

As recent as Wednesday, loud, resonating booms have been heard in a Wisconsin city. Many believe the noise is coming from underground, despite the fact that investigations into gas lines, mining explosives and sewers have turned up nothing.

Though many scientists, experts and members of law enforcement have been consulted, only one believes he has the answer. Local writer A. Gregory Pickens, a pop culture historian and professor of film studies at a local college, believes the truth can be found in one of H.G. Welles’ classic tales: “The War of the Worlds.”

Many adaptations of the book, whether the Orson Welles radio drama or the 2005 film, have maintained the classic scenes of the tripod machines rising up to conquer the humans on the surface. Pickens thinks this may be close to reality.

“No one can explain these noises naturally,” Pickens said in an exclusive phone interview with Weekly World News. “I think with all of the UFO sightings in Clintonville within the past few decades, one could come to the conclusion that something not of this world is below. I think it’d be irresponsible to not prepare ourselves accordingly.”

As one of the parties who have attested to seeing unknown objects in Wisconsin skies, Pickens has already begun to board up his home in preparation of the attack. When asked why he doesn’t just leave the city, he maintains a logical approach.

“If they’re coming, they won’t stop in Clintonville,” he said. “They’ll hit every square of the earth. My best bet is to just hope they find my homemade fortress too difficult to get into and just move on. Or maybe, like everyone else, I’m toast.”

More and more people across the U.S. are moving into tiny houses.

Forced to take on extra work to make mortgage payments on their 2,000-plus-square-foot home, the Jordans found an ad for a local company that would construct custom-made small houses. For less than $20,000, they were able to build the home – and go mortgage-free.

In the video, Debra Jordan gives a tour of her home, along with a convertable sofa bed she built for guests. Her 13-year-old son lives in a loft space above the living room/kitchen area.

She explains that the space – immaculately organized – can now “sleep six people comfortably, and eight to 10 uncomfortably.”

According to Jordan, downsizing helped the family focus on what matters.

“It’s not what you don’t have, it’s what you do have,” she said. “We just wanted a simple life and this helped contribute to that peaceful feeling. Not always rushing to make payments on a gigantic home.”

Debra and Gary were working four jobs after Gary lost his original job two years ago. At the time, they were living in a 2,000 sq. ft. home on an acre and a half of land. While searching for ways to downsize, they had an epiphany.

Before having their son, Debra and her husband Gary had spent 9 years living in very tiny homes in South America. Living small hadn’t felt like a sacrifice, but a way to stay focused on what is important. They decided they wanted to get back to that.

They stopped working so hard, sold or gave away all of their extra stuff and began looking for the perfect tiny home.

The “perfect tiny home” is a $15,000, 320 sq. ft. abode with a separate work studio. They now live there with their 13-year-old son and claim the home can sleep “6 people comfortably, probably 8 to 10 people uncomfortably.” Faircompanies.com “they have a walk-in closet, full-sized appliances and even an antique bed,“ and ”their son has his own lofted bedroom big enough for sleepovers.”

WISCONSIN – An Eau Claire woman called 911 after discovering she was drunk and behind the wheel.

Mary Strey, 49, told the dispatcher that “somebody’s really drunk driving down Granton Road.” When asked if she was behind them, Mary honestly explained, “I am them.”

Strey told police officers who arrived after she pulled over on the side of the road and turned on her flashers that she had been drinking all day. With nothing to hide, Strey estimated she consumed eight brandy and Cokes during her daylong bar crawl in Neilsville.

Strey was arrested on charges of drunk driving. Her blood alcohol level was level was 0.17.

SPRINGFIELD, IL – Wisconsin Democrats are still on the run!  But WWN found them hiding out in a brothel in southern Illinois.

Wisconsin Democrats are still on the run, trying to avoid capture by Wisconsin state troopers. They have threatened to stay away from weeks and have vowed that – “you’ll never find us!”

But WWN’s crack investigative team located the fourteen Wisconsin democratic Senators – all male.  They are hiding out at the Wild Horse Brothel in Springfield – which was just created by the Illinois Democratic Party to help the Wisconsin politicians deal with their time away from their families.

The Democrats are standing firm at the brothel.  They are against balancing the state’s budget by cutting the pay, benefits and collective bargaining rights of public workers.

The 14 Senate Democrats left the state Thursday, delaying action in that chamber on a sweeping anti-union bill. Sen. Jon Erpenbach, who was among those who fled, said Friday that the group was prepared to be away for weeks, although he would like the standoff to end as soon as possible.

Erpenbach is happy to have a found a safe place to hide.  “I think the Wild Horse Ranch is great place for us to meet with democratic supporters and to work out our plan for the future.”

That’s his temporary assistant Mindy.  She’s on the bed ready to help him in any way she can.

Erpenbach accused new Republican Gov. Scott Walker of trying to rush the legislation, calling the governor’s style “dictatorial” at times.  Erpenbach then spent an hour with Mindy – laying out his strategy.

“We all didn’t want to do this. I didn’t want to do this,” he added. “But if we have to stay in this brothel for the next three weeks, by God we will do it!”

The Wisconsin democrats have been receiving visits from prominent labor leaders, including Richard Trumka and this rhyming rally leader:

Jesse Jackson spent the weekend holed up in the brothel with the Democratic Wisconsin senators.  “We are standing tall, standing strong for the people of Wisconsin,” Jackson said.  Jackson had a private meeting with Charlene, a volunteer at the brothel.  Jackson was overheard screaming “We Shall Overcome!” several times throughout the night.

There was another prominent Democrat who stopped by to visit the brothel.  He approved of their temporary hiding place:

“Hell no, we won’t go!”  That was a chant heard from inside the brothel, when Wisconsin State Troopers arrived to take them back to their home state.

It didn’t take long before the Wisconsin troopers were also in the brothel – and planning to stay for weeks.

So, the standoff continues.  And the Wisconsin Democrats are keeping busy at the Wild Horse Ranch:

It’s time to get rid of the unions!  We have got to 86 the AFL-CIO, send those union leaders back to the rat holes they climbed out of.

Now, Ed knows unions started for a good reason.

Ed’s grandfather joined a haberdasher union in New York City because they were making him work fifteen hour days in a shop that was never below a hundred and twenty degrees and they only let him go to the bathroom once a week and he had to eat his stale-cheese lunch in a dark basement next to the five-year-old children that were shoveling coal to power the steam presses.

But that was 1920!

Today the unions are getting over on the average citizen in America.  They got a scam that would make Madoff jealous!

Rank-and-file union members are driving fancy cars, getting million-dollar pensions, eating expensive French cheese served on fancy American crackers and wiping their asses with taxpayer dollars.

Union members get gold-plated healthcare, state-of-the-art gyms, hair transplants, breast implants, brain transplants – anything they want transplanted they get because the U.S. taxpayer has to bend over and let the unions have their way.

If a public service union member wants a sex change operation the American citizen will pay to have a penis pasted on or cut off.  That’s how crazy it has become!

These slimy, no-good, unions are causing all the states to go broke!

Ed says we take Norma Rae out back and beat her with a broom.

Ed says we dig up Jimmy Hoffa from Giants Stadium and smash his bones to smithereens with a union sledgehammer.

Ed says we get all the teamsters driving those big trucks that almost run me down on the highway, send them to China where they can make sneakers for twelve cents a hour and eat monkey brains for dinner.

I am tired of the unions robbing our states blind and holding the government hostage, while they sit in hot tubs with union hookers.

I’m tired of having to pay more for my healthcare while these union thugs get free healthcare for their extended families, including their pets!

I’m tired of teachers that can’t be fired even after they molest little boys and girls in their first grade classrooms.

I’m tired of the union label!

Who do these cheesehead teachers in Wisconsin think they’re fooling?!

They don’t care about the children, they only care about putting more gallons of Coca-Cola and supersized tubs of chocolate ice cream in the sub-zero refrigerators they keep in their McMansions.

They only care about getting more vacation days so they can go down to Cancun and drink margaritas with tax-payer dollars and buy more Mexican dope.  They want more sick days and more time off in the summer, so they can laugh at the rest of us as we go to work.

They want to get paid NOT to teach!

GRANTON, WI – A woman in Wisconsin called the police to report a drunk driver – herself!

Mary Strey, 49, called policed on the night of Halloween to report a drunk driver. As it turns out, Mary had been barhopping before heading home, and thought it would be best to report herself while she was still driving!

ST. BART – Several eyewitnesses have confirmed reports that the legendary Creature from the Black Lagoon is on the loose in St. Bart!

The tropical island paradise in the heart of the Caribbean is currently under lockdown while authorities search the beaches and waterfront for the Creature.

The latest sighting comes from 5-year-old Caitlin McCord of Madison, Wisconsin.

“Caitlin came running up the beach screaming her little lungs out,” Caitlin’s father Michael told authorities.  “She said something came up outta the water and lumbered toward her.”

“We followed her down to the beach and there it was.  Through the mist we just saw its leathery skin.  It growled something in the guttural language of the deep.  Then we all ran.”
