WASHINGTON, DC   —  The Vice President is out $800,000 after he fell for a well-known Internet scam.  

Vice President Joe Biden reportedly said that he simply became curious when he received an e-mail promising him $20.5 million if he would only help out a long-lost relative identified as J.B. Biden with a little money up front.

Biden’s intern told WWN about the scammers’ ability to identify his relative by initials and that was what convinced the Vice President it was legitimate.

“That’s what him hooked,” She said.  ”He wanted to help out a relative he  had never met, who wouldn’t do that?”

Biden reportedly mortgaged his house in Delaware and took a lien out on the family car, and ran through his wife’s 401K  account.

“The retirement he was dreaming of — cruising and going around and seeing America — is pretty much gone for him right now,” sources close to Biden said.  ”Yes, he’ll be taken care of by the government, but he won’t have that extra ‘cushion’ that will allow him to live in luxury.”

Accountants in the Vice President’s office estimate it will take fifteen years to clear the debt that Biden accumulated in the more than two years he spent sending money to con artists in Nigeria.

Biden’s family, bank officials and even the President told him it was all a scam  and begged her to stop, but Biden persisted because he became obsessed with getting paid at large sum of money ($40 million) for helping a relative he had never met, who was in dire trouble.

“He thought it would pay off one day, so he kept giving them money,” said a source close to the White House.

The scheme is often called the “Nigerian scam” and it’s familiar to many people with e-mail accounts. It still exists and it still works.

Biden first sent $100 through an untraceable wire service as directed by the scammers. Then, more multimillion dollar promises followed so long as she sent more money.

The scammers sent Spears official-looking documents and certificates from the Bank of Nigeria and the United Nations. President Obama and ex=FBI Director Leon Panetta were also involved, the e-mails said, and needed his help.

They sent official-looking documents and certificates from the Bank of Nigeria and even from the United Nations, saying his payment was “guaranteed.”

Biden hopes that by being conned he will help raise awareness about internet scams.

Meanwhile, Biden is planning a trip to Nigeria to meet with his relative that he had never heard of before.

MOSCOW -  Last night there were mysterious floating red lights over Moscow.

For over two hours last night, there were a series of unidentified floating, flickering lights.   At first, local citizens thought it was a fireworks display, but they soon realized that it wasn’t.  There were many calls to Moscow authorities, with citizens worried about the lights.

The Russian government immediately dismissed them as “nothing,” but Moscow citizens are convinced that there were multiple UFOs over the city last night.

“We look up in the sky and there they were.  I saw about five of them.  They came from nowhere and then… they disappeared.  There is no explanation I can think of.  It must be UFO,” said Ivan Skolov.

Vladamir Putin learned of the UFOs and immediately dismissed them.  “There is no such thing as UFO.  And if there were they better not come to Russia.  I will kick their asses.  They can go to America, where people are weak.  But aliens will not harm Russia.  Not while I am here.”

Last month, there was a red UFO over New York.  Some speculate that it may be the same UFO, but Dr. Mazlan Othman of the United Nations commission on extraterrestrials said that he believes the UFOs over Moscow are not related to the ones seen over New York.

“We have fairly strong evidence that the beginning of an alien invasion is occurring in the United States.  The floating lights over Moscow last night are clearly spaceships from another planet, but we think they are aliens on a separate mission.”

Asked whether she thought there could be two separate alien invasions underway, Ms. Othman said, “it’s naive for us to assume that all aliens are working in consort.  There are many different aliens from different planets and they all have different objectives.  Our job on the commission is to determine which aliens are friendly and which ones are coming to harm the citizens of earth.”

Meanwhile, Moscow citizens are nervous about the unidentified red lights.  “We don’t normally see UFOs, we think that is something only for people in the Southern U.S.  We are concerned and upset that our government seems to be covering up,” said Katia Volmod of Moscow.

The reports of UFOs have increased 259% so far this year – over last year.  Could this really be the beginning of an alien invasion?

NEW YORK -  The Jetpack story that broke on WWN is gaining international attention.  The U.N. has convened to discuss.

The United Nations Security Council met last night to discuss the news that the United States military is purchasing over 1 million jetpacks.   Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon called an emergency session last night due to the controversy swirling around the jetpacks.

“Member nations are all worried about this jetpack technology that the United States has kept secret from the international community,” said Ki-Moon. “We have received word for Russian spies that the United States is planning on using the new jetpack technology to wage war against at number of nations utilizing large battalions of Flying Infantry.”

Former Ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton, spoke with WWN last night and confirmed that the Bush Administration ordered the 1 million jetpacks back in November, 2007.  “We never would have thought that they would be in full production so soon. But this is good news for America. We’ll get them from the ground and the air.”

The Obama Administration, which has come under fire for its use of drone attacks in Afghanistan, is now coming under fire for the potential use of a Jetpack Army to shoot down the Taliban from the sky.

“It’s not fair!” screamed Taliban leader  Osama Bin Heidi.  “They cheat!”

NEW YORK – The United Nations has formed a  panel to begin peace talks with aliens.

Professor Mazlan Othman is in charge of conducting negotiations with the first extraterrestrials ever allowed into the United Nations.  They are discussing the political, social and economic ramifications of the coming alien invasion. The new department is called United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs.

U.N Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon appointed Professor Othman, a Malaysian astrophysicist, and expected negotiations with the first extraterrestrials to begin in the next few weeks. The UNOOSA’s other duties include passing the benefits of technology developed for space to Earth-bound humanity, particularly those in the Third World; and monitoring what is sent into space.

Aliens have long been upset about the trash that Earth has been sending into outer space.  Aliens are demanding that one their leaders be placed as the head of the United Nations, effective immediately.  Ki-Moon doesn’t see how that will be possible, but he’s willing to negotiate.

Professor Othman, known now as the “Alien Ambassador,” hopes to get the aliens to explain UFOs, alien abductions, the rumors that they deactivated British & US nuclear missiles and Mel Gibson (a known alien).  renowned theoretical physicist, Stephen Hawking, has been selected to steer the “Greeting Committee,” which is a panel of ten earthlings that have been selected to greet aliens as they arrive here on earth.  “Professor Hawking speaks their language, we think he’s an excellent choice,” said Ki-Moon.

The United Nations has been having secret meetings on UFOS since 2008 and plans to make the transcripts of those meetings available to the public – soon after the aliens have taken over Earth.

Since the announcement of UNOOSA and the new alien panel, the United Nations’ switchboard has been overwhelmed with calls.  “The person at extension 4951 is unavailable, please leave your message after the tone,” it said. Those messages might make for some interesting listening.

Aliens, of course, have been living among us for a long time, but the coming Alien Invasion has prompted the United Nations to take action.  “We don’t want to fight them, we want to surrender,” said Ki-Moon.

Recent findings reveal that French First Lady Carla Bruni has been alive since at least the early Hellenic Period. Dr. Andrei Cyriakis has uncovered artifacts off the coast of Sicily dating back to 300 BC which bear an unmistakable resemblance to the model/singer.

Dr. Cyriakis’ find would help explain several events since Bruni began her courtship with French Prime Minister Nicolas Sarkozy.

Last February a bus full of schoolchildren were saved from an avalanche near Lyon by what witnesses described as “a beautiful angel” wearing a designer Christian Dior dress similar to the one Bruni wore that evening to dinner with the Queen of Jordan.

Since her arrival in New York for the UN General Assembly, reports of street crime have dropped 83%. A woman matching Bruni’s description was seen flying away from an explosion at an abandoned warehouse in Queens shortly before her husband’s reception with the Eli Wiesel Humanitarian Foundation.

For reasons yet unknown Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was seen staring at Mrs. Bruni this morning at the United Nations building with clenched fists saying “Next time. Next time…”

Exactly how old she is or where she came from remain a mystery, but the scientific community and Weekly World News will keep searching for the truth.

GENEVA – A consensus vote at the United Nations today recognized Kosovo’s right to after-hours, unsupervised socialization rights with consenting nations. This is only on condition that they be back by two and stay away from that awful Serbia.

‘I had to do a lot of soul searching,’ said cautious and self-confessed ‘classic smothering parent’, Swedish ambassador Lars Bergdorf.  ‘But at the end of the day I realized that, you know, if we’ve taught them right, then I guess we should have faith that they’ll make the right choices.’

A red-faced and visibly emotional British delegate echoed the sentiments.  ‘At least this way we can make sure they use protection when they…’ he said, before dissolving into tears.  ‘Oh, my sweet little baby!’

The Russian ambassador provided a shoulder to cry on, and a reassuring voice.  ‘I know, Honey, I know,” he said.  “God, you know.  One minute you’re officially recognizing its birth as a sovereign nation, the next minute, they’re asking you about international relations.  It just all happens so fast.”

The decision came as a shock to some critics who allege that the international community is jumping the gun, allowing Kosovo to enter the dating game without a proper understanding of the rules.

In a statement, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon tried to deflect these criticisms.  “We sat them down and had The Talk, so everything’s out in the open,” he said.  “But you know, what with the internet and today’s movies being how they are and what have you, fledgling nation-states learn all these things a lot faster than we did when we were their age.”

SVALBARD, NORWAY – Cindy McCain will return to her ice kingdom following the November elections should her husband not be victorious.

Longstanding rumors allege Mrs. McCain has difficulties remaining for long periods of time in the hot temperatures of Arizona and Washington DC’s summer seasons.

Mrs. McCain, heiress to an American beer fortune, is also the Queen of Svalbard, the northernmost province of Norway.  Although the archipelago is technically part of Norway, the Norwegian government leaves all authority over the province to Mrs. McCain.

“We have treaties and we have an armistice line.  We don’t cross and thank heavens those creatures don’t cross either,” Morten Wetland, Norway’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations said through a translator.

The creatures that Wetland refers to, in addition to Mrs. McCain herself, include The United Tribes of the Three Polar Bear Legions as well as the Worg Enclave and the Sasquatch Nation.

While under McCain’s despotic rule, peace has been achieved among the bears, wolves and sasquatches.  In Wetland’s own words, “Thank the heavens the Ice Witch does not turn her icy glare south. “

Should Senator McCain lose his bid for the presidency, it is feared that Mrs. McCain will mobilize her minions from the ice kingdom to wage a war of revenge against America and her allies.
