BOISE, ID – Quick Gem Staters, hide the Biggie Smalls! The state of Idaho is banning hip-hop music!

The Idaho State Legislature unanimously passed a bill on Friday that prohibits anyone in the state from playing hip-hop or rap.

Under the new law, anyone caught listening to hip-hop would be slapped with a $3,000 fine, or worse, could face up to seven months in prison.

Legislators from the Idaho House of Reps said the decision to ban hip-hop was based on a study conducted by University of Idaho scientists, which showed that rap music can have adverse effects on young listeners.

“Rap music leads to violence,” said Republican Sharon Maclean. “So if you want to get rid of the violence, you have to get rid of rap music. It’s that simple.”

The law would also prohibit Idaho radio stations from playing “anything that resembles hip-hop music,” including reggae, techno, dancehall, and pop.

“I’m just trying to raise my kids in a wholesome environment,” said John Stiglitz, a resident of Boise and father of two, “and if that means getting rid of rap music, then so be it.”

“It’s a shame, though,” added Stiglitz. “I really enjoyed Kanye’s phat beats.”

Though the bill received overwhelming support in Congress, some Gem Staters feel that the new resolution is a blatant attack on hip-hop culture.

“This is unfair,” said Mike Williams, a 23-year-old rapper from Nampa whose stage name is Thuggy Bumpkins. “Hip-hop is a way for people to express themselves through music. It’s not violent. I’ve listened to hip-hop all my life, and not once have I done anything illegal.”

Williams, along with other Idaho-based rappers, launched a campaign against the bill called “Rappers Against the Prohibition,” or RAP. They’ve already organized several protests and “rap-ins” around the state.

“Our mission is to get people out in the streets,” said Williams. “Our voices need to be heard. This anti-rap bill is unfair and it must be stopped!”

But despite the voices of opposition, those in the Idaho State Legislature show no signs of backing down.

“They can complain all they want,” said Democrat Mark Harping. “But we’re standing firm in our decision to ban rap. If they want to beef, tell them to bring it on!”

WASHINGTON – Pentagon Contracts Pharrell Williams to design Tank Chair
Pharrell Williams most notably known for his work as a recording artist, producer, musician and fashion designer has now expanded his business ventures even further into the world of the military industrial complex.

Williams’s career began as a recording artist in the hip-hop group, The Neptunes. Later Williams went on to produce other artists such as Brittany Spears and Ol’ Dirty Bastard (R.I.P.) as well as founding the wildly popular clothing brands Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream Footwear. Now he is taking on an even larger scale endeavor as he works with the pentagon on his new project, the Tank Chair.

What Williams has currently presented to the Pentagon is still in the prototype stages but shows great promise. This off road wheel chair will help soldiers who no longer have the use of their legs to continue to fight in combat.

“We can no longer afford to send troops home just because of a little injury like paralysis,” said Chief of Staff of the United States Army, General George W. Casey, Jr.

“I’ve always loved ODB and N**gga Please is the most played song on my iPod by far,” said Obama in a statement to the press. “We had heard that Pharrell was interested in weapons manufacturing so I had General Casey contact him for the project.”

The new project has not been able to fly under the radar, however. The Pentagon has recently come under fire as information has leaked that a previous 2008 design by Williams referred to as the Perspective Chair, ironically, incorporates real human legs covered in a rubber-like plastic coating.

“If the exhibition, Bodies can use real people, I don’t see why my chair can’t use real legs,” said Williams in a response to the concerns. The recent news, however, has not seemed to affect the production of the Tank Chair.

HOLLYWOOD –Rapper Eminem will make a guest appearance on Fox’s musical sitcom, Glee!

The controversial rap sensation will appear on the hit Fox series as Sue Sylvester’s younger brother, a mean but flamboyant male cheerleading coach.

Sources close to the show say that viewers can expect a steamy romance scene between Eminem and Kurt, the show’s openly gay male character.

“It’s going to get steamy,” said Bruce Mathews, a writer for the hit show. “We’re really trying to push the envelope with this episode.  You’re going to need a cold shower afterwards.”

Publicists on Eminem’s behalf said that the rapper is “totally stoked” to be starring on the nation’s hottest TV show and that he is “fired up” to be singing show tunes and wearing a cheerleading costume in front of millions of American viewers.  He’s “Not Afraid” to try something different.

“Eminem has been a fan of Glee from the very beginning,” said Charlotte Rinehart, Eminem’s personal assistant. “He’s seen every single episode and sings along to all of the songs. And you should see his room! There are posters of Kurt [Hummel] everywhere!”

Eminem will add his guest spot on Glee to a long list of recent accomplishments. His seventh studio album, Recovery, just received ten Grammy nominations, including one for Album of the Year.

“Eminem’s having great year,” said Chris Colter, the actor who plays Kurt, “and we’re all excited to have him on the show. He’s a super nice guy and a surprisingly good cheerleader. You should see his fan kick! ”

The special, two hour episode is schedule to air some time in the next month. However, rumors have surfaced that the episode might be too steamy for network television.

“I watched the footage and I have to say: the episode is very racy,” said network executive Leo Roth. “Honestly, I’m not sure it’s appropriate for network television.”

WASHINGTON -  On the first night of the White House Dance Series, the White House introduced its own dance troupe, Hip-Potus.

Last night was the inaugural performance of the new White House Dance Series.  The White House transformed the East Room into a stage for some of the world’s most talented dancers to strut their stuff.  White Staffers participated in the event. Some of the highlights of the night were the pirouettes done by Rahm Emanuel, the gravity-defying leaps by David Axelrod, and some crazy one-handed spinning handstands by Robert Gibbs.

Michelle Obama, who brought along daughters Sasha and Malia — just home from their first day of school — and mom Marian Robinson, did some serious bumping and grinding herself.  The first lady stole the show from Dayton Tavares, the star of Broadway’s high-flying Billy Elliot, when she did some head spins and leaps across the East Room.

Rahm Emanuel, a former ballerina,  forced his staff to get involved in the dance as well.  Here they are:

The emotional highlight of the evening, though, was the performance of “Revelations” by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.  Michell Obama called artistic director Judith Jamison, 67, “an amazing, phenomenal, ‘fly’ woman.”  Judith Jamison called Michelle “an amazing, phenomal, ‘superfly’ woman” and then both women danced in sports bras and shorts to “Brick House.”

President Obama introduced the White House Dance troupe – Hip-Potus -  made up of the assistants to his senior advisors.

The President wanted to be featured dancer in the troupe, but he pulled a groin muscle when he tried to do a harlem shake and a slide.

Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi were at the event, but when Reid stood up and yelled, “I’m gonna bust a move,”  the President asked him to leave.  Nancy Pelosi did some “footworkin’” but she left when her wig came off.

BROOKLYN, NY – The Beastie Boys held a secret show in their hometown, and a certain beastly boy was on hand to collaborate.

One of the longest-lived hip hop acts, the Beastie Boys originally started as a punk band but was shaped by famous producer Rick Rubin into a three-man rap crew. They found critical and financial success with hits “So What’cha Want”, “Sabotage” and “Intergalactic”, all of which they performed at their surprise concert at the Music Hall of Williamsburg last night.

During their final song, “Fight For Your Right”, Ad-Rock spotted the one and only Bat Boy head banging in the front row and pulled him on stage. His contribution mainly consisted of shrieking into the microphone, coincidentally harkening back to the band’s hardcore phase.

Bat Boy was so excited he offered them chocolate-covered mosquitoes after the show, but the Boys declined as Mike D. is now vegan.

CHICAGO, IL – Shocking both the hip-hop and the political worlds, Kanye West and John McCain announced that they have developed a joint clothing line.

The gear, called McKainye, will be a blend of conservative styles typically associated with politicians, the free-spirited styles typically associated with hip-hop artists, and the narcissistic feel that’s unique to Kanye West.  “McKainye – Reaching Way Across the Aisle,” is both the tag line for the apparel and the title to the duet the pair recorded to promote their new venture.

Making the merger even more bizarre, West has been vocal against the current Republican administrations.  The rapper/philanthropist made headlines in 2005 during a benefit show for victims of Hurricane Katrina by going off script and saying “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”

“McCain’s good people,” said West.  “He’s no Bush.  This is the right thing for the country right now.”

McCain couldn’t be contacted for a comment, as he’s still very busy with his bid to become the next president of the United States.  There is no support to the charge that McCain has been throwing the election in order to promote the apparel and eventually record a solo album.

McKainye will hit the stores in mid-November of this year.
