Manorexia is becoming a major health issue in America as men seek the “perfect” body.

Yes, most American men are obese… but many are now suffering from “manorexia.”

Two in five eating disorder sufferers is male. The number of victims admitted to hospitals is up 66 per cent in past decade. Experts blame obsession with the ‘perfect’ body shape.

The pressure to look like a male model is driving more men to develop dangerous eating disorders, experts warned today.

Americans have been warned to be on the lookout for the potentially fatal conditions, which include anorexia and bulimia, after a rise in the number of those affected.

Men may be reluctant to admit they have a problem as the issue has until now been seen as something affecting mainly teenage girls.

Medical experts blame the surge on an obsession with looking good by having bulging biceps and a six-pack stomach

Americans need to be aware of the fact that men also these days are experiencing problems with eating disorders. They are not as good at recognizing the symptoms in men as they should be.

“It can be because men are much more reluctant to talk about these issues or to admit there is a problem.

“There is a stigma about it – it is seen as a teenage girls’ disease. But eating disorders are serious psychological conditions which can kill.”

Medical experts estimate that 30.6 million American men have an eating disorder. That’s about one in five men.

The U.S. Department of Health does not keep records which show how many sufferers there are in the U.S. It only keeps records of hospital admissions, so it can be hard to judge the scale of the problem. It could be much worse.

Jack Worman, 22, from San Diego, has suffered with anorexia and bulimia since the age of 14.

He became seriously ill when his weight dropped to 98 pounds.
He told CBS News: “I didn’t realize what I was doing to myself and was abusive to my body at the time. The point was to look good and pursue a perfect image but I was doing the opposite.

“I fell into a cycle that continued until it became unbearable for everybody.

‘I just felt very inadequate about the way that I looked and felt I wasn’t fitting in at school.’

3 out of 5 men are obese. 1 in 5 are manorexic. That’s leaves 1 in 5 men as being healthy. Not good…

NEW YORK, NY – Fatfoot, the overweight Sasquatch, was recently discovered to be suffering from bulimia.   Yesterday he appeared on daytime television show The View to discuss his struggle.

Fatfoot became overweight foraging for food in suburban New Jersey, subsiding mostly on fast food and leftover Chinese takeout.  While most Sasquatches weigh between 450 and 600 pounds, Fatfoot weighs roughly 1,235 lbs.  After the recent publicity received for his weight, the obese australocrypticine developed a severe eating disorder.

For the past few weeks, Fatfoot has been going on binges, eating dumpster-fulls of discarded food from Manhattan restaurants.  Several days ago he was seen purging behind a midtown Dunkin Donuts, and was quickly taken away by concerned wildlife officials.  Once the story of his eating disorder got out he was almost immediately invited on The View.

Most of The View’s female hosts offered their sympathies to the obese primate.  Elizabeth Hasselbeck, a devout creationist, refused to acknowledge the existence of the missing link sitting next to her.

The overweight Sasquatch, although only able to communicate through grunts and pointing, managed to tell a story of heartache and rejection.  Barely a dry eye was left by the time Joy Behar denounced Weekly World News for giving the primate the moniker ‘Fatfoot’, which the sobbing Sasquatch confirmed only led to his negative body image.

At the end of the show Fatfoot was treated to a surprise make-over before being released back into the wild.
