The role played by Hollywood in shaping our views on alien life has long been debated in the UFO community.

Although there seems to be a consensus among UFOlogists that big screen depictions of UFOs serve to acclimate the populous to the reality of the phenomenon, opinions diverge on whether this acclimation effect is the product of design (inferring the existence of a “Hollywood UFO conspiracy”), or is merely the result of a natural cultural process driven by generic trends and stemming from a simple recognition among Hollywood executives that, when it come to the box office, aliens sell like hotcakes.

Within this ongoing debate concerning UFOs and Hollywood, the name of one studio consistently has rung out over the decades – Disney. The House of Mouse has overseen the production and/or distribution of numerous UFO and alien-themed movies in recent times, with the best known examples including Flight of the Navigator (1986) Signs (2002), Lilo and Stitch (2002), Chicken Little (2005), Lifted (2007), I am Number Four (2011), Mars Needs Moms (2011) and the forthcoming John Carter (2012).

The Disney/UFO connection can be traced back to 1953 when the CIA-sponsored Robertson Panel recommended that the US government make efforts to strip UFOs of their “aura of mystery” through the exploitation of mass media including television and motion pictures. In this context, the panel highlighted Walt Disney Productions specifically as a potential conduit for its propaganda.

The panel’s singling-out of Disney made sense given the animation giant’s then firmly established working relationship with the US government: during World War II Disney made numerous propaganda shorts for the US military, and in the 1950s corporate and government sponsors helped the company produce films promoting President Eisenhower’s “Atoms for Peace” policy, as well as the retrospectively hilarious Duck and Cover documentary, which depicted schoolchildren surviving an atomic attack by sheltering under their desks.

That the Robertson Panel highlighted Disney is significant in that the Panel’s general recommendation to debunk UFOs through media channels is known to have been acted upon in at least one instance: this being the CBS TV broadcast of UFOs: Friend, Foe, or Fantasy? (1966), an anti-UFO documentary narrated by Walter Cronkite. In a letter addressed to former Robertson Panel Secretary Frederick C. Durant, Dr Thornton Page confided that he “helped organize the CBS TV show around the Robertson Panel conclusions,” even though this was thirteen years after the Panel had first convened. In light of this case alone, it seems reasonable to assume that the government may at least have attempted to follow through on the Robertson Panel’s Disney recommendation.

With this in mind, consider the case of the Oscar-winning Disney animator Ward Kimball. Best known for creating iconic Disney characters such as Jiminy Cricket and The Mad Hatter, Kimball also worked as Directing Animator on Disney classics including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1938) and Pinocchio (1940). While at a MUFON symposium in 1979, Kimball claimed that the United States Air Force (USAF) had approached Walt Disney himself in the mid-1950s to request his cooperation on a documentary about UFOs that would help acclimate the American public to the reality of extraterrestrials. According to Kimball, in exchange for Disney’s cooperation, the USAF offered to furnish the production with genuine UFO footage. Kimball claimed that Disney accepted the deal and – ever faithful to Uncle Sam – began work immediately on the USAF project.

It wasn’t long, however, before the USAF reneged on its offer of UFO footage. When Kimball challenged the USAF Colonel overseeing the project he was told that “there was indeed plenty of UFO footage, but that neither Kimball, nor anyone else was going to get access to it.” The Kimball case, though, seems to be at odds with the Robertson Panel’s recommendations, which were to debunk UFO reality through media channels, not promote it. But perhaps another faction within the military-intelligence community – one with a UFO acclimation agenda – had similarly recognized Disney’s propagandist potential?

As a closing thought on Disney’s establishment ties in relation to the UFO question, in January 2011, the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) staged its 5th Annual Global Competitiveness Forum (GCF) – a major International business convention which this year featured keynote speeches by the likes of Bill Clinton and Tony Blair. Intriguingly, this year’s GCF event also featured a special panel discussion entitled: “Contact: Learning from Outer Space,” in which names such as Stanton Friedman, Jacques Vallee, Nick Pope and Professor Michio Kaku addressed the wide-ranging implications of UFOs and potential extraterrestrial life. How is this relevant to our topic?

Well, it might not be, but the primary sponsor of the GCF event was Boeing – a company highlighted by Disclosure Project witnesses as being a key player in UFO-related ‘deep black’ programmes and which you’ll also recall is linked at a directors-board-level to the Walt Disney Company – and a key note speaker at the event was none other than Chairman of Walt Disney International, Andy Bird. UFOs, Disney, Boeing, even former heads of state – all under one roof, so to speak. It proves nothing of course, but is nevertheless worthy of mention in that it brings to mind what the famous ex-CIA operative Robert Baer once told me regarding the Hollywood/Washington relationship: “All these people that run studios – they go to Washington, they hang around with senators, they hang around with CIA directors, and everybody’s on board.” Certainly, Disney has long been “on board” with supporting government and military power structures; as to whether or not this support extends to an involvement in some indefinable “Hollywood UFO conspiracy” is impossible to say. For now, at least, all we can do is weigh-up what little evidence is available to us and each draw our own conclusions as to precisely what UFO secrets – if any – might lie behind the Magic Kingdom.

GLENDALE, CA – Seven thieves broke into the Glendale Cryogenics Labratory and stole Walt Disney’s frozen head!

Police arrived at the California based cryogenics lab after receiving a phone call from the lab’s owner, Robert Sterling.

Security camera footage confirms that seven thieves broke down the front door of the building with the intent to steal. However, the camera was immediately disabled when one of the thieves shot it with a handgun.

Police found the security guard blindfolded and tied to his chair. No one else was on hand to witness the robbery, they said.

Representatives from Glendale Cryogenics say that the “Walt Disney Vault” is a popular tourist attraction for Disney fans who want to see their lifelong hero’s frozen head.

“Every day we get dozens of visitors wanting to see Disney’s head,” said Sterling, “and we never had any problems robberies. I don’t know how this happened. It is an unspeakable tragedy.”

Sterling said that when Walt Disney’s head was not on display, it was kept inside a steel-reinforced concrete vault in the back of the lab. The vault was sealed with a time lock that prevents the doors from opening until a certain number of hours have passed.

“These robbers were clearly professionals” said police safe-cracking expert Tony Nash. “They left no evidence of tampering or lock-picking, not even a fingerprint.”

Originally, police were unsure about the thieves’ motives in stealing Walt Disney’s head. But a ransom note found at the crime scene has cleared up some of the mystery.

“We are holding Disney’s head as collateral,” said the note, “and we will not rest until the Disney Channel terminates the smut and filth that permeates its airwaves. We will do whatever it takes to restore the Disney name to the symbol of morality and goodness it once was, even if that means bringing our leader back to life.”

Walt Disney had his head cryogenically frozen after his death of lung cancer in 1965, hoping that future generations would be able to discover a cure for his illness and revive him from cryonic suspension.

While the cure for cancer has yet to be found, authorities say that the prospect of “reanimating” Walt Disney is scientifically feasible.

“It’s likely that the thieves are trying to bring Walt Disney back to life as we speak,” said Sterling. “I don’t know what they’re planning to do with him, but I know it can’t be good.”

CELEBRATION, FL – The man responsible for the murder escaped prison.  Now he’s on the loose with a gang of costumed murderers!

Last week the violent crime occurred in the town of Celebration, a picturesque, Disney sponsored town in Central Florida. Though the deaths seemed unrelated at first, police later discovered that the crimes were committed by the same axe-wielding man dressed as Mickey Mouse.

Residents of Celebration were shocked upon hearing the news of the murders, which were the first in the town’s 15 year history.

“We didn’t even think twice when we saw that large, blood-covered Mickey Mouse character running around the town,” said Joyce Weatherby, who has lived in Celebration for five years. “We just thought it was another Disney stunt.”

But as events began to unfold, the people of Celebration found themselves caught in the middle of a gruesome murder spree.

It all ended when police arrested David-Israel Murillo, 28, after he allegedly beat, strangled and attacked Matteo Giovanditto with an ax over Thanksgiving weekend.

Peace seemed to be restored to the small town, but things quickly took a turn for the worse after Murillo escaped from his Central Florida prison earlier this week.

Police say he is armed and dangerous, and can be easily identified by his trademark Mickey Mouse tattoo.

“Everyone should be on the look out for a man dressed in a Mickey Mouse costume,” said Celebration Police Chief Randall Spitzer, “which, now that I think about it, is not that strange for Orlando.”

Authorities said the killer most likely joined up with his posse of costume-clad murders, and that the group is bent on terrorizing Disney theme parks.

“If you’re in Disney World and you happen to see a costumed character,” he continued, “run the other way. Don’t let your kids take a picture with them, and don’t, under any circumstances, ask for their autograph!”

Spokesman for Walt Disney World Resorts have not ruled out the possibility of shutting down the parks should more violent episodes occur.

“We employ hundreds of Mickeys,” said Jim Craigmore, Vice President of Public Relations for Walt Disney World. “Any one of them could be the murder. We’re better off playing it safe and shutting the place down – even if that means canceling the Christmas extravaganza.”

Meanwhile, the Disney Company has already announced plans to make a movie about the recent murder spree. The film’s tentative title is “Mickey Mouse and the Murders on Main Street.” Owen Wilson has already been cast as the murderous Mickey character.

BURBANK, CA – Taylor Swift and her Label have been working overtime defending her lackluster performance at the Grammys. 

Thursday she finally cracked from the pressure and took a Burbank family hostage. On Sunday Taylor Swift both won and lost at the Grammys.  She picked up 4 of the awards, including album of the year, but then did a performance with Stevie Nicks that critics are ripping apart ever since.  After a week of silence to satisfy critics, Swift finally cracked and took a Burbank family hostage Thursday afternoon.  She told police she would release the hostages when critics stopped saying mean things about her.

Since her grammy performance critics have been ruthless towards Taylor Swift.  The Washington Post said she was “tinny, off key, and incredibly wretched.”  The Atlanta Constitution called it “The musical equivalent of watching your grandmother die.  Slowly.”  The New York Post simply posted a picture of some vomit and put Swift’s name under it.  Taylor Swift’s manager, Sal Bruschetta of Big Machine Records, went on the offensive to defend his client.  “Taylor Swift is a 20 year old artist!  She may not hit all the notes, or remember the words, but that’s part of her art!  This isn’t a competition of pure technical prowess, like American Idol.”  In response to this comment Kelly Clarkson visited Swift’s home and left a flaming bag of excrement on her doorstep.

Having had enough Taylor Swift finally snapped while visiting some fans.  Thursday afternoon she was doing philanthropy work and paid a surprise visit to a family who had been out of work for a year, but whose children were fans.  Swift arrived with her friend and Disney star Selena Gomez.  One of the children commented naively “I saw you on TV this weekend.  You sounded like my cat when she wants a boyfriend.”  Swift cracked, grabbed at the father’s gun from the mantle and took the family hostage.

For 16 hours Taylor Swift held a family captive.  Police, alerted that there was a Disney star in trouble, were on the scene in minutes.  A teary and visibly shaken Swift stepped out to discuss her demands holding the most famous of her hostages.  Gomez, a professional since childhood, smiled and posed for the cameras as if nothing was wrong.  Swift asked to speak with her manager and asked that all unfair criticisms of her be retracted.  Eventually negotiators were able to calm Swift down about her reviews and convinced her to release the hostages.

Swift has agreed to take a few days off to relax before resuming her tour.  The family she took hostage will not be pressing charges, on the condition she come back and perform at their daughters birthday party.  Selena Gomez will report to a Disney re-education facility to have the incident wiped from her memory.
