WASHINGTON, DC -  Sources close to Hillary Clinton say  she will announce her run for President.

Hillary Clinton came to WWN Headquarters and told editors that she is livid about the downgrade of the U.S. Credit Rating.  “I’ve stood silent long enough.  I don’t think Obama is a leader and I know… I know I can do a much better job.  I am a true leader and… I am going to challenge Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination for the President of the United States.”

The White House was quick to deny the news, saying that as far as they knew Hillary Clinton is happy as Secretary of State and remains loyal to Barack Obama.

But, WWN has learned  that in recent weeks, Bill Clinton, has been meeting with democratic operatives in Washington and grass roots leaders early primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.  Bill thinks this time around, Hillary can easily wrestle the nomination from a weakened Barack Obama.

“It’s her time.  The nation desperately needs Hillary.  The world desperately needs Hillary,” Bill Clinton told  WWN’s Frank Lake in phone interview last night.

Some cynical Republican consultants feel that this was the plan all along.  “They made a pact back in 2008.  Barack would serve one term and get Obamacare passed, then Hillary would serve two terms and pass the other elements of their progressive agenda. The plan is working perfectly.”

Sources close to Hillary said, however, that Hillary has not spoken to Barack Obama personally in over three weeks.  “Hillary feels that President Obama has moved dramatically to the center and abandoned the core progressive principles they both old dear.”

A quick Rasmussen poll of Democratic primary voters puts the race at 52% for Hillary and 45% for Obama with 3% undecided.

James Carville, Paul Begala and, surprisingly, Dick Morris, have all signed up to join the Hillary for President team.  2012 is going to be a wild  year.

Bill Clinton likes Hillary’s chances.  “Hillary is going to crush Obama.  And the country is going to get two for one.  We are back, baby.  We’re back!!”

Republicans and Tea Party Patriots are… very worried.  VERY worried.

NEW YORK – Huma Abedin, Anthony Weiner’s wife, announced that she is running for his Congressional seat.

With her boss, Hillary Clinton, at her side, Huma Abedin announced today that she is running in the special election that will be held to fill the Congressional seat vacated by her husband, Anthony Weiner.

“Huma is going to make an outstanding Congresswoman and, I hope, will become President some day,” said Clinton, who it has been rumored is having an affair with Abedin.

Abedin’s scandal-scarred husband, Rep. Anthony Weiner, resigned his seat from the U.S. House on Thursday, but his departing speech left the door open for a comeback.

Weiner has faced calls to resign for more than a week, since he came clean after publicly lied about inappropriate communications with women he met online. His resignation speech centered more on his years of service than his sexually-charged online affairs.

Weiner joins a long list of U.S. lawmakers who have resigned over sex scandals in recent years, including New York Reps. Chris Lee, a Republican, and Eric Massa, a Democrat; and Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev.

Abedin has already received endorsements from prominent Democrats – Governor Andrew Cuomo, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, Harry Reid, and President Barack Obama.

Asked if her husband was going to endorse her, Abedin said,  “I don’t know and I don’t care.”  Uh-oh.

Is there be trouble in the Weiner-Abedin household?

The special election will be held sometime in August. Huma Abedin will be the first Muslim woman elected to the House of Representatives.

WASHINGTON - Anthony Weiner told WWN this morning he will resign from office today.

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) told Frank Lake of WWN  this morning that he is going to resign from office and will be making an announcement at 2pm today.

CNN and the NY TIMES are confirming WWN’s exclusive story:  Weiner will resign today.  A press conference will be announced later.

Frank Lake spent the morning making waffles for  Weiner and Huma.  Huma told Lake that she still supports her husband, but that the best thing for the country – and their marriage – is for “Anthony to give up his House seat.”

Weiner also told Frank Lake that still intends to run for Mayor of New York City.

Weiner showed Lake his package – even though Lake did not ask to see it.

Later today, Weiner will tell reporters and the world, that he is going into treatment and that his top priority when he comes out is to repair the damage he has done to his marriage. “Huma, and our unborn child are all I am focused on now.”

Well, that and a porn video – which Weiner has signed on to star in.  Apparently, he couldn’t turn down the very lucrative offer from Vivid Entertainment.

In recent weeks, the embattled congressman has resisted calls to step down from his post amid intense controversy surrounding inappropriate interactions he admitted to engaging in online and lewd photos surfacing of the congressman.

The scandal got even stranger Wednesday, when a former porn actress who exchanged emails and messages with Weiner said he asked her to lie about their interactions.  Weiner has acknowledged sending sexually explicit messages and suggestive photos of himself to various women and then lying about it. The New York congressman has taken a two-week leave from the House and is reported to be in treatment at an undisclosed location.

ALBANY – Andrew Cuomo voted and then went off and turned himself into Bat Boy!!

Andrew Cuomo didn’t go to the polls today to vote for herself… instead she wanted to join in the fun and Bat Boy herself!

ALBANY – New York Gubernatorial candidates get ready for tonight’s second debate.

Tonight is the second debate for the candidates in the New York gubernatorial race.  Top candidates are Andrew Cuomo (Democrat),  Carl Paladino (Republican) and Jimmy McMillan (Rent Is Too Damn High).

The last debate had seven candidates up on stage,  but organizers have limited to the top three this time.  It should be another informative, high-minded political debate between three powerhouse candidates.

Andrew Cuomo was seen outside a Merrick deli on Long Island this morning.  He was reasserting his Catholic roots, his devotion to the Blessed Mother and professing that he is a Christian who wants to get the Christian vote.

Jimmy McMillan was in Scarsdale, trying to convince residents that the Rent Is Too Damn High!  in the rest of the state.   After speaking with some residents he vowed to expand his platform and will now be saying:  Taxes Are Too Damn High!

Meanwhile, Carl Paladino was criss-crossing the state with his staff, convincing everyone that he loved gay people, he just doesn’t want any of them in New York State.

The debate is predicted to be lively and entertaining.  Jugglers and strippers will appear on stage in between questions, so the audience does not get bored.  The candidates will cover all the major concerns of citizens in New York:  pie-making, small cars and fire hoses.

Current NY Attorney General, Andrew Cuomo, is the frontrunner, but he still feels he has to do some “dancing” for the citizens of New York.  He will be doing an interpretive hip-hop dance to the hit Jay-Z tune, Empire State of Mind.  Carl Paladino will be singing the old Connie Francis song, Where The Boys Are and Jimmy McMillan will be performing a monologue from a new David Mamet play entitled, The Rent Is Too Damn High!

The debate will be televised on Fox News with Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade as the moderators.

Washington, DC – The nation’s undead community is demanding the right to health insurance—and it is a battle it can win, say experts.

“We can’t issue health insurance to people who are technically not alive,” says one insurance industry spokesman. “But there is a possibility that we can provide undead plans, especially if the insured are nonsmokers.”

However, the government is firmly against the move.

A Capitol Hill insider says when insurance for vampires, werewolves and other undead species was mentioned to President Bush, he said it was “like a stake through his heart,” especially with Democratic members of Congress calling for the establishment of a Department of Undead Affairs.

“Aren’t the undead susceptible to their own weaknesses, like garlic and holy water?” asks one Democratic congresswoman. “Surely they have a right to insurance like everyone else.”

Both presidential candidates have been asked for their opinion on undead health insurance at recent rallies. Senator Obama responded, “I would be more than happy to discuss undead coverage in the future, once we’ve sorted out the living first.”

Senator McCain was less supportive. “When I become President, I am seriously considering putting a spending freeze on everything except defense and the caring of our veterans. Undead insurance is not exactly at the top of my list,” he snickered.

Vampire spokesman Anton Dreisch told Weekly World News: “I believe President Bush and Senator McCain have declared war on vampires and other members of the undead because they don’t think we’re part of their constituency. A number of us are Republicans. It’s not like we died and came back to life with different politics. That would be absurd!”

“Big Washington needs to think really hard about what they’re getting themselves into if we are denied. We literally have all the time in the world to fight for this.”

BREAKING NEWS! Senator McCain has asked for the Friday debate to be delayed so he may “focus on the economy”. But insiders tell Weekly World News it’s just a cover-up to hide his secret leg-lengthening surgery!

“I won’t be dwarfed by a Democrat!”, candidate declares.

Republican presidential hopeful John McCain has issued a tall order to his medical staff — he wants to add 5 inches to his height so he won’t look like a shrimp in the debates beside his Democratic rival, Barak Obama.

McCain, who stands 5 feet 7 inches, is painfully aware how puny 5-foot-6-inch Michael Dukakis appeared during debates with 6-foot-2-inch George H.W. Bush during the 1988 campaign.

“Dukakis lost that election because he was shorter than Bush,” McCain told an aide. “I don’t want the same thing to happen to me when I have to go face-to-face with Obama.”

Barak Obama stands an impressive 6 feet 1½ inches tall, and McCain feels if he can get to 6 feet, he’ll be able to nullify the height advantage.

McCain has arranged to undergo a pioneering operation, in which the patient is stretched on a special bed for three hours a day while his bones are injected with calcium. The procedure induces a growth spurt like the one many people experience during adolescence.

“McCain is extremely fearful that basketball-loving Obama will challenge him to a game of one-on-one,” says a campaign worker. “With their present height differential, McCain would get his head handed to him. It might be enough to tip the balance in Obama’s favor in a close race.”
