Google Earth map has been updated and you can now see a gridlike pattern proving the underwater city of Atlantis had been found. 

The exciting discovery was originally made in 2009 when eagle-eyed internet users spotted a large grid on the seafloor that looked strikingly like the fabled city. Google, at the time, explained, that the misrepresentation was caused by overlapping datasets, and Atlantis had not been found, but the map remained.

This week, mapping experts from around the world announced that the Google view of Earth’s subterranean landscape has proved conclusively the location of Atlantis.

“That’s Atlantis.  We’re a hundred percent positive,” said Dr. Wallace Toomer of Cambridge University in the U.K.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the US Navy, NGA and GEBCO also concurred.  Google has the “most accurate view of the seafloor”  ever made.  They are all “excited” to go the location and explore Atlantis.

The newest version of Google Earth includes more accurate imagery in several key areas of ocean using data collected by research cruises over the past three years.

The Google map now matches the map used in the research community, which makes the Google Earth program much more useful as a tool for planning cruises to uncharted areas,” Sandwell added.

For centuries the story of Atlantis has captured the imagination  -  a fabled city of great beauty, culture and wealth that was suddenly swallowed up by the ocean.

Some had claimed its ruins lie beneath the waves off the coast of Cornwall. Others say they’ve been found in the Black Sea.

The real location of Atlantis:  an area of the Atlantic.  Go to Google Earth yourself to look at… find it.

CAPE CANAVERAL, FL –   After the Space Shuttle Atlantis blasted off for the last time, President Obama sold NASA – and all its parts – to Russia.

Space shuttle Atlantis displayed its power and majesty one final time, rocketing into space from Kennedy Space Center at 11:26 a.m. ET Friday morning despite threatening weather — marking the final launch after 30 years for NASA’s storied fleet of shuttles.

When the Atlantis returns to the United States 10,000 NASA employees will be fired by the U.S. government and hired by the Russian government.  ”We are not closing NASA,” said White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, “we are transferring the employees to Moscow.”

President Obama said that he wants to work on new space mission that will begin sometime in 2014 or 2024 or “whenever.”   He wants to go to Mars some day.  Meanwhile, the Russians will be taking over the worldwide space missions.  ”We need the Russians to build ships and work with NASA so that some of our American astronauts can go to Russia and then fly to our International Space Station.  If the Russians don’t take over NASA, who will?”  said Carney.

“The sense of history, the legacy of what has happened here over three decades, is palpable,” a Mission Control spokesman said before the launch, noting that “30 years and three months ago, it was Columbia on the launch pad awaiting lift off.”

“America will continue the dream,” the launch director said as Atlantis lifted-off on its 33rd and last flight.  ”But Russia will be busy actually executing the dream.”

The crew — Commander Chris Ferguson, Pilot Doug Hurley, Mission Specialist Sandy Magnus and Mission Specialist Rex Walheim — had arrived at the launch pad’s White Room at 8:06 a.m. ET for the boarding process, undeterred by reports that there was only a 30 percent chance of favorable weather for blast off.

“For the final time, good luck, godspeed, and have a little fun up there,” launch director Mike Leinbach told the shuttle crew before lift off.

In a video message released after the launch, NASA chief Charles Bolden saluted the final flight of Atlantis — and offered hope for the future of U.S. spaceflight.

“Over three decades, the shuttle has brought this nation many firsts, and many, many proud moments,” Bolden said. “The shuttle pioneers have made the next chapter of human spaceflight possible.”

“American ingenuity is alive and well, and it will fire up the Russian economy — and help us win the future,” he added.

Obama told reporters that he didn’t watch the final Space Shuttle launch, “I wanted to catch it, but I had an early tee time.”

When asked about whether we can trust the Russians to take care of the employees of NASA, Obama said, “Putin promised me that he would take good care of our NASA employees and I trust him.  I have no reason not to trust him.”

And so ends, the United States space mission… from Kennedy to Obama.

Russia now owns NASA.  What’s next?!

SPAIN – A U.S-led research team has located the lost city of Atlantis, in mud flats in southern Spain.

Atlantis has been found!  And it was found 60 miles inland in the mud flats of Spain.  How did it get there?  A tsunami!

An international team, led by Fritz Barnkopf, found the true site of Atlantis.

The team used a satellite photo of a suspected submerged city to find the site just north of Cadiz, Spain. There, buried in the vast marshlands of the Dona Ana Park, they believe that they pinpointed the ancient, multi-ringed dominion known as Atlantis.

“We used modern technology and we used Professor Barnkopf’s dog, Scruffy, who we call the Lost City Sniffer.  He sniffed out Atlantis in the Spanish marshlands,” said lead geologist, Moses Blue.

Barnkopf’s discovery in central Spain has finally conclusively proven the existence of Atlantis.  Most of the citizens of Atlantis died a violent death at the hands of the tsunami, but “Atlantis residents who did not perish in the tsunami fled inland and built new cities there,” Barnkopf said.

“We found something that no one else has ever seen before,”  Barnkopf said.  He plans on finding El Dorado next and he and his team plans to look for Oz next year.

Greek philosopher Plato wrote about Atlantis some 2,600 years ago, describing it as “an island situated in front of the straits which are by you called the Pillars of Hercules,” as the Straits of Gibraltar were known in antiquity. Using Plato’s detailed account of Atlantis as a map, searches have focused on the Mediterranean and Atlantic as the best possible sites for the city.

Plato can now rest in peace.  Atlantis has been found!

DINGLE, Ire. – After years of extensive searching, the lost city of Atlantis has been found – on Google Maps!

The reports are in from officials at Google Maps. They say the computer-based cartography system, which provides high-resolution satellite images for geographic locations around the world, beamed hundreds of photos from the lost city of Atlantic back to Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California.

The image clearly shows a glittering mythological palace floating atop the Atlantic Ocean. See for yourself:

“The photo taken by Google Maps is most definitely the Lost City of Atlantis,” said Yale Mythologist Anthony Braxwell. “It displays all the trademark characteristics of the legendary metropolis. A shimmering castle, glistening drawbridges made of gold, crystal spires – yep, it’s all there.”

“I’m just surprised it took so long to find,” added Braxwell.

According to sources, the Google Maps satellite was performing a routine scan of the Atlantic Ocean when it came across the strange, previously uncharted Kingdom of Atlantis.

The satellite images, which have been proven accurate to within 1/100th of a millimeter, show the island of Atlantis sitting just 10 miles southwest of Dingle, Ireland, a small township with a population of 300.

“I’ve lived here for 75 years,” said Brian MacElhose, a farmer and lifelong resident of Dingle, “and never noticed that gigantic city floating out there in the ocean. How could I have missed it? Oh well, I guess that’s what Google Maps is for.”

Experts in the fields of geography and history say the recent discovery of Atlantis will have a “monumental effect on the future of mankind.”

“This is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the most important discovery of the last millennium,” said Braxwell.

Word has yet to be released concerning the population or demographics of Atlantis. Some authorities speculate that the city is probably barren, while others estimate its population to be somewhere around 10,000.

Either way, international diplomats are foaming at the mouth for a chance to colonize the mythological island. England, Iraq, Russia, Greece, and the United States have all expressed interest in claiming Atlantis as a territory.

The lost continent of Atlantis was vaporized in a horrifying nuclear attack by aliens who wanted to destroy all evidence of their landing on Earth.

That’s the shocking theory offered by a top Russian astrophysicist to explain the sudden and mysterious disappearance of the ancient city state more than 40,000 years ago.

A radioactive cloud unleashed after nuclear missiles were launched from starships blanketed the Earth in a deadly shroud that wiped out many species of prehistoric animals, according to Dr. Anatoly Rubenis.

The woolly mammoth, the saber-toothed cat and the giant sloth were among the creatures which fell victim to the deadly exposure, the St. Petersburg professor says.

“Atlantis had been an advanced culture, most likely because the aliens had selected it for a space outpost and had trained its human inhabitants in the sophisticated sciences and arts,” Rubenis contended in a recent article on his theory.

“But the attack literally bombed mankind back to the Stone Age. It took centuries for man to begin the climb back to even the most primitive of social systems.”

Rubenis’ revolutionary ideas are based on 27 years of research into the origin and evolution of planets in the solar system. The scientist said his studies reveal normal developmental patterns followed by most planets, but strangely altered in the Earth’s history.

A cataclysmic and profound change in the Earth’s environment more than 40,000 years ago coincided with the disappearance of an entire continent once located in the Southern Atlantic, Rubenis says. Levels of radiation rose alarmingly in one brief period at that time, indicating what may have been a powerful nuclear event.

“While there is no way of knowing precisely what occurred on Earth at that time, my theory answers many questions raised by archaeologists, geologists and paleontologists,” Rubenis said. “What’s more, there is every indication that aliens, in fact, do visit Earth from time to time and have the capability of landing and establishing bases.

“I believe that eons ago, alien ships colonized here, mingling with earthlings and helping them. The colony has survived in mythology as the famed continent of Atlantis, a wondrous society that was extremely advanced for its time. Mythology also indicates that Altlantis disappeared suddenly and catastrophically, leaving no trace behind.”

Rubenis theorizes that the aliens became alarmed by their Earth experience – perhaps when colonists bred with earthlings and their allegiance to the moter planet was weakened. A decision was made to evacuate the colony and destroy all traces of alien presence on Earth, Rubenis said.

“The continent was pulverized by powerful nuclear weapons – literally smashed to atoms,” Rubenis said. “There wasn’t anything left afterward except the empty ocean.”

A 12,000 year old quartz crystal skull, which is believed to be an artifact from the Lost Continent of Atlantis, can heal the terminally ill.

Many are familiar with crystal skulls from the most recent Indiana Jones films, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. But few know they are based on a real artifact!

“This is truly a remarkable relic from a very ancient time in the world’s history,” said 81 year old Anna Mitchell-Hedges in 1993.

“It has absolutely incredible properties – properties for which, seemingly, there is no scientific explanation.

“In the more than half-century it’s been in my possession, time and time again I have watched in awe as the energy that apparently radiates from the skull has healed individuals who say they are terminally ill or permanently disabled.

“Among those who just want to touch the skull and meditate, some say they can feel its power surging right through their bodies – and they even catch glimpses of the future.”

The life-size skull, carved from quartz crystal, was discovered by Anna in 1921 while she and her adventurer father, F.A. Mitchell-Hedges, were excavating the ruins of the 1,500-year-old Mayan center of Lubaantun in Central America.

“I’ll never forget that magical moment when I first saw this awe-inspiring antique shimmering in the moonlight,” Anna said.

“I found it under a Mayan alter that had been covered by a collapsed wall. I was particularly struck by the fact that the lower jaw is movable. My father believed the Mayans may have used it as an oracle.”

However, he was also convinced that the Mayan hands had not fashioned the artifact, because such a detailed sculpture would require diamond tipped tools, since diamonds are the only material that can carve quartz crystal.

“And those kinds of tools just didn’t exist in that day and age,” Anna explained.

“Naturally, there are some skeptics who claim the skull is a fake,” she continued, “but scientists at the California labs of Hewlitt-Packard have estimated it’s about 12,000 years old.

“Now, the only advanced civilization we know of that may have existed that long ago is the fabled Lost Continent of Atlantis. This lost continent reportedly extended almost to the coast of Central America.”

After Ms. Mitchell-Hedges passed away in 2007, her friend Bill Homann inherited the skull. This past April,  the Smithsonian Institution examined it and also established it was made with tools the Mayans did not have. However, this led to their conclusion that it was made in late 1800s, rather than by a much earlier civilization.

There are additional theories about the skull, most prominently that they were either created by aliens or an ancient culture was shown how to create them by aliens.

BERN – Swiss scientists say they can prove beyond a doubt that the Lost City of Atlantis was on Mars, and its astronauts traded with ancient Egypt for thousands of years!

Even more incredible, they claim to have the evidence to show that the legendary King Tut died spectacularly in a space shuttle crash with an alien crew.

“The Martian Civilization destroyed itself or was destroyed by a meteor while Egypt was still in its prime,” Dr. Stephan Weisz told a gathering of reporters and scientists in Bern, Switzerland. But the inhabitants left their mark both on Earth and Mars. Top secret photographs taken by America’s Martian probes clearly show the remains of temples on the surface of the planet.

“Egypt’s pyramids and the ability to mummify the human body are definitely the result of technologies that originated not on Earth but someplace else, in this case Mars. It is our belief that the Atlantans traded these technologies to the Egyptians for gold.”

Dr. Weisz and a colleague, Egyptologist Conrad Vetsch, said that a recently deciphered Egyptian scroll first led them to believe that Atlantis was located on Mars. The scroll describes a technologically advanced civilization existing beyond our own planet “in the vast, black ocean of space.”

It also alludes to space travel and the use of a shuttle craft to ferry manlike extraterrestrials from a space-bound mother ship to the surface of Earth.

“Researchers have long known that the Egyptians were exposed to flight because an elaborate model of what they called a glider was found in Tut’s tomb,” Dr. Weisz told the group. “In light of information gleaned from the scrolls, we now see that the glider was in fact the replica of a space shuttle. And it was just such a space craft that crashed with Tut aboard.”

Not everyone attending the conference agreed with the experts’ theories. Dr. Seth Rausch, a German historian, thinks they went too far in calling the Martian civilization Atlantis. “I don’t doubt that the Egyptians were in contact with extraterrestrials,” said the expert. “But until we actually inspect the ruins on Mars, there is no way to know if they are the remains of Atlantis.”

“In my opinion, if Atlantis did exist, it existed here on Earth.”

Norwegian astronomer Elling Gade agreed. “Atlantis might have been the colony of an alien civilization. But it most definitely was located on this planet,” he said.

CANARY ISLANDS – A perfect rectangle of criss-crossing lines has been found on the ocean floor 620 miles off the coast of West Africa. Is this the lost city of Atlantis?

Bernie Bamford from Chester, UK found the figure while using Google Ocean to explore the sea. Its existence is even more perplexing as the grid is about 3.5 miles down.

Some believe it is the city of Atlantis, a great island civilization that Plato believed sank around 9,700 BC. Dr Charles Orser, curator of historical archaeology at New York State University and an authority on Atlantis, said, “The site is one of the most prominent places for the proposed location of Atlantis. Even if it turns out to be geographical, it definitely deserves a closer look.”

But Google is doubting this theory. A spokesperson stated, “It’s true that many amazing discoveries have been made in Google Earth. In this case, however, the image is an artifact of the data collection process, not the city of Atlantis. Boats use sonar to take measurements of the seafloor and the lines shown reflect the path of the boat as it gathers the data.”
