An asteroid will pass by the Earth on Friday, bumping into the North Polie then spinning away.

An asteroid will ricochet off the North Pole on Friday. It will hit the ice and shoot back into space.

This is the first time an asteroid will bounced off earth. Scientists say that if the thickness and composition of ice matches the composition of an asteroid, than the asteroid will ricochet back into space.

“It’s an event that happens, only once every seven hundred years,” said cosmologist Dane Wilkins.

The asteroid, estimated to be about 96ft in diameter, was first detected on Wednesday.

The space rock – named 2012 BX34 – will hit the north pole after barely missing the Moon.

Astronomers stress that there is no cause for concern.

“Nobody will be hurt, unless you are walking on the polar ice cap. A polar bear MAY be hurt, but the chances are slim,” said Barry Willis, associate director of the US-based Minor Planet Center.

“It makes it in to the top 20 asteroid events in the history of the world,” Willis told WWN.

The asteroid’s path makes it the closest space-rock to pass by the Earth since object 2011 MD in June 2011.

Earlier estimates had put the asteroid’s closest distance at as little as 5,000 miles, near the distance at which geostationary satellites reside, but observations by observatories overnight showed it will hit the north pole and bounce off.

Although the asteroid will not be visible to the naked eye, Dr Williams said that keen backyard astronomers could get a look.

“We’ve had three sets of observations in the last few hours from amateur observers in the UK,” he said. ”They all confirm ‘the bounce’”.

If you are outside at 4pm EST today, you may catch a glimpse of the Asteroid Bounce.

Sources close to NASA confirm: on November 8th, Earth will be hit by a giant asteroid!

The asteroid, designated 2005 YU55, will slam into Earth after passing by our moon. NASA says the asteroid is the size of an aircraft carrier, but astronomers and scientists working in Russia say it’s the size of – Rhode Island!

Some had believed that the asteroid would just pass by, but now it looks like it will hit earth – directly on November 8th. Looks like it might hit somewhere in the Pacific or Oklahoma. Nobody is sure right now.

Some are speculating that the asteroid is actually a spaceship from Planet Gootan and is part of the attack that is predicted for November 28th. ”It may be a Gootan spaceship, that is arriving early for the attack,” said Professor Banesh Bannerjee of the U.N. Panel on Extraterrestrials.

And asteroid this size has never hit the earth directly. The last time an asteroid this big came close to Earth was 1976, and it looks like it won’t happen again until 2028.

Comets and asteroids preserve the building blocks of the planets. And 2005 YU55 looks like it preserved a big chunk of some planet.

What can citizens do to prepare? ”Not much,” says a noted astronomer. ”It’s just a matter of luck. If you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time, you’ll vaporize.”

It also interesting that the United States is planning a nationwide test of its emergency alert system – simultaneously on the internet, television and radio – for November 9th. Why is the test for the day AFTER the asteroid hits earth?

Hmmmm…..

LOS ANGELES, CA — Authorities confirmed UFO sightings over Arizona and Southern California on Wednesday.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Authorities confirmed UFO sightings over Arizona and Southern California on Wednesday.

Witnesses described the UFOs as shooting lights with many colors and even a tail.

Authorities and UFO experts from around the country have confirmed that the lights belonged to alien spaceships. “There are reports circulating that these lights may be from an meteor or a satellite, but we can confirm that they are alien spaceships flying over our Southwestern cities,” said Dr. Susan Begley of the U.N. Panel on Extraterrestrials.

The first reports came from Riverside County, California around 7 p.m. Wednesday. Within a half hour, several Orange County residents also reported seeing the lights. After about an hour, reports were coming from all over the West.

Most said the lights were “blue and green.” A few described the lights as yellow or orange.

CBS2 and KCAL9 received emails and phone calls from Murrieta, Perris, Irvine, Ontario, Riverside, Lake Forest, Corona and San Clemente.

Additionally, police report they received many calls about the lights. Some residents of Arizona have reported seeing the lights as well.Residents of Nevada, many in Las Vegas, are also reporting the green-blue lights in the sky.

Several days ago, NASA announced a dead satellite would fall to Earth by “September’s end” but so far, no official confirmation if the lights and satellite are linked. Many a the U.N. feel that the United States government is covering up the UFOs.

“They are definitely alien spaceships – most likely from Planet Zeeba or Planet Xixuc,” said UFO expert and former Russian cosmonaut, Boris Lidsky.

Here’s what some witnesses saw:

John Jacobus of Phoenix: “I was on my cell outside, in City of industry when I looked up and saw the green, orange falling object about 7:40 p.m. As I saw it my buddy was on his way home on the 91 and he saw it at the same time. “

Bernadette Cox: “I live in Quartz Hill. It was green in color and very large.”

Francesai Martinez: “I live in Chino it looked like a falling star at first and continued on forever with a reddish green tail behind it before it was too low to see anymore. “

Chasen H: “I was on the 405 South and saw a bright light in the east. I thought it was a helicopter with its searchlight on but saw it aim downward, turn green and streak towards the ground. I was at the Carson/Harbor Gateway border at the time.”

Dozens of people reported observing a dazzling, bright light, or lights, streaking across the sky Wednesday night over Arizona and Southern California in what authorities said were likely meteor sightings.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office fielded more than a dozen such calls on Wednesday, and sheriff’s deputies at Deer Valley Airport in north Phoenix reported a sighting themselves, an agency spokesman, Lieutenant Justin Griffin, said.

The deputies described it as greenish light moving across the sky from north to south, he told Reuters.

“It took an unusually long time to get across the sky,” Griffin said. “It’s like a meteor. It’s not like we had any flying objects with little green men or anything like that.”

Sergeant Steve Martos of the Phoenix Police Department said in a statement sent to media outlets that his agency received four calls “regarding the light in the sky,” adding that “Our air unit, myself and other officers observed it as well.

The director of the Griffith Park Observatory in Los Angeles said witnesses were probably seeing “a piece of interplanetary debris” that “passed through the Earth’s atmosphere and burned up.”

But that same director have minutes before told the Russian newspaper, Pravda, that he was sure it was an alien spaceship.

PARIS – Scientists have made an incredible discovery on an asteroid that may prove a highly debated theory!

An asteroid has provided evidence of water ice, as well as organic compounds which bolster a leading theory for the origins of life on Earth. Scientists made their findings by studying 24 Themis, an asteroid about 479 million kilometers from the sun, which is one of the largest asteroids in the solar system.

“Up until now there was no sign that asteroids had any abundant organics or ice on them,” said Joshua Emery, an astronomer at the University of Tennessee and one of the authors of the studies. His discovery, along with other scientists, may provide the evidence for the possibility that the essential building blocks for life came from asteroids.

Asteroids have mostly been known to be devoid of water due to their proximity to the sun, with comets being the ones to contain water because they form farther out in space.

“We had previously thought that only the comets could have brought a lot of water to Earth,” said Andrew Rivkin, researcher at John Hopkins University and one of the lead authors of the studies. “But we now have more reasons to think that the asteroid impacts may also have brought a significant amount, especially if each one might have 20 to 30 percent water.”

Scientists now plan to scan the asteroid belt for more evidence of water and organic materials, hoping to determine if 24 Themis is just a comet that got stuck in the asteroid belt or an actual water-bearing asteroid.

ROME – An Italian researcher recorded footage of the asteroid 2009 DD 45 that recently passed by, and discovered a UFO near it!

The asteroid made a very close pass by the Earth, at only 40,000 miles. After reviewing video of the rock, some scientists noticed an object that must move in order to avoid collision. What is it? Skeptics are speculating that it could be just a bug on the telescope, but what are the odds of it moving at that exact moment?

SYDNEY – A 200-foot wide asteroid whizzed by Earth yesterday, narrowly missing us by 40,000 miles. But now a pair of aliens are coming forward to take the blame!

Australian astronomers discovered the object, called 2009 DD45, just a few days before it arrived. While it was only 200-feet wide, the impact would have been enough to wipe out a major city.

But the astronomers appear to have been duped, as two aliens released an apology to the citizens of Earth this morning. According to the message broadcast across all major satellite channels, the aliens’ craft was actually the object that almost crashed into our planet, due to unfortunate circumstances

The video shows the two aliens, Zagar and Molok, sitting at a desk with heads bowed, reading reluctantly from a piece of paper. Zagar explains, “We were out partying in the Kuiper Belt when Molok asked if we could do a tour of your solar system. I knew he had been heavily drinking, but he’d just lost his job as a methane collector on Uranus-” Zagar stops to giggle with his buddy, “and I thought it might help cheer him up.”

“After nearly hitting your planet, we were stopped near Jupiter and taken into custody for Flying Under the Influence. This message is part of our punishment. So I apologize for nearly hitting your planet and causing a catastrophic explosion of atomic proportions. My bad.”

Silence follows. Zagar elbows his companion and prompts him, “…You’re sorry too, right, Molok?” Lost in the haze of a hangover, Molok rests his head on the desk and moans in pain.

The United Nations has asked the Galactic Police Force to propose more severe punishments for FUIs, lest Earth be destroyed by a couple of off-planet teenagers. The GPF have yet to respond, further supporting accusations that Earth is not a priority.
