BRYAN COLANGELO RIPS CHRIS BOSH

CANADA – Bryan Colangelo was not satisfied letting Dan Gilbert steal all the spotlight!
Chris Bosh might be the least publicized member of the new Miami trio – that’s not to say that his skills aren’t superior. The fact that he played in Toronto probably didn’t help his cause for fame and glory. Regardless, Bosh is now part of a super team and his former boss has finally broken his silence.
Bryan Colangelo is the Toronto Raptors president and general manager – the team which Bosh left for the white sandy beaches of Miami. While Dan Gilbert waited only a few hours to share his thoughts on the matter, Colangelo waited a few weeks to allow for the smoke to clear.
Colangelo spoke with Canadian radio host Bob McCown of FAN 590 on Monday and he had a few things to say about Bosh. Given all the publicity and praise that the new Miami trio has gotten, one would think that Colangelo has been bubbling with emotions.
While on the show, Colangelo suggested that Bosh took a long time to return from injury even though he had been medically cleared and that he started thinking ahead to his future to the detriment of the Raptors.
“Despite limited swelling and any excessive damage on an MRI, he felt like he needed to sit for six more games … I’m not even questioning Chris’ injury. I’m telling  you he was cleared to play subject to tolerance on his part, and the tolerance just apparently wasn’t there and he chose not to play,” Colangelo said. “The fact that our season was spiraling downward and we were hoping he’d come back sooner and we were also dealing with a few things at that point … we were really struggling there.”
The Raptors missed out on the playoffs to the Chicago Bulls by one game. Bosh may not have single-handedly won all six games for the Raptors, but he certainly may have given them a better shot at those Ws. Colangelo feels, however, that Bosh couldn’t have cared less if the Raptors made the playoffs.
“Whether he was mentally checked out or just wasn’t quite into it down the stretch, he wasn’t the same guy. I think everybody saw that, but no one wanted to acknowledge it,” he added. “At the same time, I never felt we were quite in the game (in terms of signing Bosh to a new contract). There was too much out there, too much built up for him to take an easy out here, and he decided to do that.”
Colangelo also went onto to suggest that perhaps Bosh is not a franchise player. Colangelo certainly didn’t use the same kind of incendiary language that Gilbert used, but he definitely did a good job of driving his point across.
Colangelo is probably more upset over the fact that Chris Bosh won’t be their mascot anymore. There is a striking resemblance between Bosh and a raptor – think about it.
