SUSAN SARANDON FILMING PING PONG SHOW

NEW YORK, NY – Susan Sarandon is spearheading an unlikely reality show!
Ping Pong is a game of fun and competition that can be shared between family, friends or fierce competitors. SPiN in New York City, a Ping Pong nightclub, embodies that idea and provides a great atmosphere for some rousing Ping Pong. Susan Sarandon is one of the owner’s of SPiN and she’s using it as the location for her upcoming reality show.
Sarandon is an avid Ping Pong players and lists it as one of her favorite hobbies. “Ping Pong transcends gender and age. Thirteen year old girls can beat 35 year old men,” she said in a past PEOPLE magazine interview.
The reality TV show is in its “early stages” and the program will reportedly chart the club’s growth and the community of young players, including one who is working to join the Olympic team.
“It won’t be the ‘Jersey Shore,'” Sarandon told PEOPLE during a World Champions Event at SPiN. “It’s more of an episodic documentary. We’re trying to invent something you haven’t seen before that follows a bunch of people in this crazy little subculture.”
Sarandon isn’t the first celebrity with a left-field theme as we all remember Mike Tyson’s project. The actress refers to herself as “the Johnny Appleseed of ping-pong.”
“That’s kind of the charm of it – the randomness,” she told Entertainment Weekly in April. “I mean, a ping pong club? Who’d have thought it, right?”
