HOW TO SURVIVE ANY DISASTER

survive_disaster

You can survive almost any emergency, from a savage dog attack to a falling comet fragment, but keeping your wits, says experts!

Here are some fascinating ideas on how to save your life in potentially hazardous situations:

CAUGHT IN QUICKSAND

Try to run. Rapidly transferring weight from one foot to the other will keep you from sinking. If that fails, try to swim using a breast stroke or back stroke. Most importantly, don’t struggle frantically or you’ll sink faster.

SAVAGE DOG ATTACK
Chop the best on the snout or slam your arm on the back of its jaws. If this doesn’t work, clutch its back between your crossed legs and squeeze with all your might.

ALIEN ABDUCTIONS
Those who have been kidnapped by ETs say the key word is cooperation. Accept the fact that they’re holding all the cards. Expect to be scared, expect to be given an uncomfortable physical examination. But remember, there have been very few deaths at the hands of aliens. Just go along with them and they’ll eventually release you.

PICKPOCKETS AND PURSE SNATCHERS
Men, keep your money in your two front pants pockets, never in your back pocket. Women, keep your money in a wallet inside a small handbag and keep it tucked under your arm. Don’t wear the bag from a shoulder strap.

FALLING COMET FRAGMENTS
Due to the current state-of-the-art astronomy techniques, you’ll usually have plenty of warning about the general area where comet fragments are expected to fall.

Be sensible and get out of those dangerous places. If you can’t get out, look for a secure building with a strong foundation and try to get to the bottom floor. Remember, the chances of the comet pieces actually hitting you are very remote.

DYING OF THIRST
If you’re deprived of water, try to move slowly, to keep your sweat to a minimum. If at all possible, you should suck on something smooth and unabsorbent, like a fruit pit or a pebble.

TORNADO OR HURRICANE
Stay inside the strongest available building. Keep away from glass windows, they may shatter and injure you. Keep a good supply of fresh water stored in case the local water supply becomes cut off or contaminated.
