PEEPS TRIVIA

This coming Sunday is Easter, and you know what that means: Peeps feast! Get ready by checking out this Peeps trivia.

1. 
   Peeps’ current manufacturer, Just Born, bought the original developer of the candy, Rodda Candy Company, in 1953.
2. 
   In the 1950’s, it took 27 hours to make one Peep. Today it takes only six minutes.
3. 
   The amount of Peeps eaten at Easter would more than circle the Earth’s circumference if lined up.
4. 
   Peeps cannot be eaten by vegans, as they contain gelatin, which is mainly derived from pork skins, bones and cattle hides.

   Emory University scientists experimented with Peeps to see how easily they could be destroyed, using methods like acid and liquid nitrogen. The eyes would not dissolve in anything.

   Peeps come in other shapes for other holidays: pumpkins for Halloween, snowmen at Christmas, stars for the Fourth of July and hearts for Valentine’s Day.
