New York City will drop the End Of The World Ball on December 21st, 2012!
In association with the large Mayan-American community living in Brooklyn, Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced that New York City will be celebrating the End of the World with the Mayans in Times Square on December 21, 2012.
“When the world ends, there is no better place to be than in New York City,” The Mayor reportedly told the New York Times today. “This is the greatest city in the world and the best place to be for the apocalypse.”
Ryan Seacrest will be hosting the “Rockin’ the Doomsday” party for ABC in Times Square. Doomsday artists set to appear include: Justin Beiber, Alicia Keyes, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Kanye West, Mumford & Sons, Lil Wayne, Adele, One Direction, Florence & the Machine, Stevie Wonder, Prince and Bruce Springsteen.
New York City is expecting over one million people in Times Square to watch the world end. “It’s going to be a great party and we don’t have to worry about clean-up,” said the Mayor.
Mayans from around the world will be on hand to lower the ball personally. “We are honored that the Mayor picked us to lower the ball,” said Mayan leader, Lord Pazcaltuma. “We have been waiting for this moment for centuries and we are sure we are going to be right.”
Some think it wasn’t a good sign that Lord Pazcaltuma was two days late for his arrival in New York. “Paz isn’t so good with dates and things,” said a Mayan follower.
If by some chance, the world does NOT end on the 21st, Lord Pazcaltuma will perform a Mayan blessing on the crowd.
