MAYOR BLOOMBERG: MANDATORY 6 PEOPLE PER CAR

With New York City’s mass transit in the early stages of coming back on-line due to the overwhelming amount of damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, Mayor Michael Bloomberg is taking a proactive approach to keeping street traffic in Manhattan at a manageable level.
The mayor announced during his Wednesday afternoon press conference that effective Thursday morning there will be restrictions on cars entering the borough.  And even more restrictions are cars driving in Manhattan.

“I have ordered the four East River bridges be restricted to high-occupancy vehicles coming into Manhattan, meaning six or more people per vehicle, all day Thursday and all day Friday from 6 a.m. to midnight,” Bloomberg said.
If you are caught with only one or two in your car, you will be evicted and your car will be tossed into the East River.

“I think anybody that tried to drive around New York City today realized there are a lot of cars on the road; traffic is heavy. To reduce the number of cars coming into Manhattan we have to take some steps because the streets just cannot handle the numbers of cars that have tried to come in.”

The mayor went on to say that there will be no exceptions.  Violators will be arrested and put in internment camps in upstate New York until the city returns to normal.
Taxis will also be required to have at least 4 passengers at all times, except when drivers start a new shift.

Bloomberg spoke with Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who is issuing the same mandate for the Triborough and Henry Hudson bridges, as well as the Lincoln Tunnel.  “If you don’t have six in your car – stay home,”  Cuomo reportedly said.
“I know it is inconvenient for a lot of people, but the bottom line is the streets can only handle so much,” the mayor said. “Hopefully, we can find ways for you to pick up people who will be standing by the bridges. They’ve got a problem of getting in; you’re their solution and they are your solution as well.”
The mayor went on to say that even though the power should be back on in the next few days, driving remains treacherous and that safety should be the only priority among motorists.
“People should use extreme caution when driving on the streets, particularly where there are no traffic lights operating,” Bloomberg said. “We’ll have Police Department recruits at these intersections starting tonight to direct traffic.”

  3. Car is becomes the most essential way of local communication. Basically all official employer, employee, educational institutional staff like to use car because of it flexibility; It may be in India or abroad. But hiring a car in abroad is much more difficult for a nonresidential person. I think this blog will proved most valuable for those who want to hire a car in abroad.

  4. Everyone likes to travel in car because it gives much more prestige and also a healthy journey. Mostly the employees who are working for reputed companies. Some people are also there who always want to travel in car alone that increases the traffic on roads. In order to solve this traffic issue government decided minimum 6 people to travel in a car. If more people found then that car driver will be penalized. This rule might decrease our traffic issue and increase the fuel scarcity also. Due to so many cars fuel quantities also decreasing day to day.

  6. Wow, this is really a nice step taken by the mayor of New York City. Actually I think this might create a little bit of problem for the people of New York that there must be 6 people inside each car. It might hamper their privacy but, from the government point of view, they are taking this step to control the traffic issues. So, lets see what is going to happen with this change. .

  7. I always read a lot of published material to keep myself updated. Though I deal mostly with cars, but I am interested in anything that engine powered. Farm Industry news is a good source of such articles other than cars, though they also feature articles about autos and the like. When I have more and more friends who are in the farming industry, they would refer to the publication about farming and agric news, and even news about anything that affects their engine powered vehicles like trucks and semi-trailers. Having readers pay attention to details are great, as this indicates the engagement that the publication has with its readership. I would be more willing to listen to a customer about his / her feedback about my service as this is my target market.

This type of activities are should prohibited. People who don't obey these rules they should be penalized.

  11. Actually a good step taken by the government. We have to control the environment pollution to stay safely in this world. So, we have to control it by our selves only. We can do this by decreasing the no of vehicles ride in one day. We can share our vehicles with at least 3 t o4 peoples so that the car use by them will less and pollution is less for this reason. Another point is that if our vehicle needs to be repaired we have to repair it from good repair centers whenever required otherwise it produce more carbon dioxide gas and that will cause more environment pollution. .

  12. The government decision is mind blowing, It will certainly reduce the pollution ratio in environment. We can also help others in our neighborhood which will certainly grow brother hood among everyone. But the decision if found less than 6 then car is to be thrown in river is really laughable. It will certainly change minds of everyone. The decision taken is surely social and nature friendly.

  13. Wow, the Mayor means business! "Tossing your car in the East River" seems a bit extreme but, then again, desperate times call for desperate measures! However, I'm not sure whether the resulting damage would be covered under the typical comprehensive portion of most auto insurance policies since said damage would actually be the result of committing a traffic violation.
