Two months after they broke up, Sofia Vergara and Nick Loeb are now engaged to be married!
Loeb accompanied Vergara to Mexico to celebrate her 40th birthday with a weekend of festivities at the Rosewood Mayakoba spa resort in the Riviera Maya.
Loeb popped the question while the group was visiting the Mayan archeological ruins of Chichen Itza. Sources say that Loeb believes in the Mayan prophecy (that the world will end on 12/21/12), so he figured “why not get married?” and got down on his knee and gave Sofia the ring she already paid for.

The Modern Family star has another surprise for her fans: rumors are flying around Mexico that she’s pregnant with Loeb’s baby!
Loeb, a businessman with political aspirations, first made major headlines with the actress when she was by his hospital bedside in September 2010, following a serious car accident.
This will be the second marriage for Vergara, who wed her childhood sweetheart Jose Gonzales when she was 18, and gave birth to the couple’s son Manolo in 1992. The pair split the following year.
Loeb is son of Ambassador John Loeb, Jr. —who served as President Ronald Reagan’s Ambassador to Denmark. In addition to political ambitions, the younger Loeb serves as President of Onion Crunch, which markets a crispy sandwich and salad topping and as Managing Partner of Carbon Solutions America, an independent consulting firm that helps private entities reduce their carbon footprints.
The couple has houses in Beverly Hills and Franklin Lakes, New Jersey.
