After eight seasons, Grant Wilson is leaving SyFy’s hit show “Ghost Hunters.” Jerry Seinfeld is stepping in.
Wilson’s spot wasn’t been vacant for long.
Comedian Jerry Seinfeld will be taking Wilson’s position on the show, according to an announcement. The funnyman is known mostly as the lead in “Seinfeld,” the celebrated NBC sitcom that ran for nine seasons, as well as a legendary career in stand-up. According to sources, “Ghost Hunter” producers hope to reinvigorate the show with Seinfeld’s famous observational humor and witticisms.
“What’s the deal with ghosts?” said a cryptic promotional ad, shortly before the announcement was made.
Wilson has lead investigations with Jason Hawes for eight seasons to date, exploring allegedly haunted locations with their group, The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS). Seinfeld is apparently the newest member of the group, with no apparent experience in any sort of ghost hunting.
“It’s a slap in the face for fans,” said one message board user. “They just brought in somebody they thought would boost the ratings. He’s funny, but he just doesn’t fit into our beloved show.”
Comment sections and boards were ignited once more today after it was announced that most of the upcoming ghost hunting is to be done strictly in Long Island and surrounding areas, where Seinfeld lives with his family. According to sources, the comedian refused to come to the program if it required a great deal of travel.
Not everyone is unhappy with the decision. Clinton Male, a diehard fan of the show and manager of several fansites, thinks the bold move could help the show’s longevity.
“I think the producers may have been right on this one,” Male said. “We all just want to see this show go on forever, and we know Seinfeld is great at taking concepts and prolonging them on and on.”
Why try to replace Grant??? And with Seinfeld?? Seriously???? There goes the show!!!
i think we should protest seinfeld taking grants place by not watching the show.
Replacing Grant was hard to bear but with Jerry Seinfield? I never could stand the guy, but if the show wants to keep their fans, they need to look elsewhere. I like Zak Fagens' show Ghost Adventures because they can be serious as well as have fun while investigating. While they may not be TAPS, they will become the next best replacement!
I think that Meatloaf would have been a better choice than Seinfeld. At least Meatloaf has hunted with the Ghost Hunters before and proved himself a good investigator. I can't believe that any one would think that Seinfeld could do any thing like Ghost Hunting.

There's so few really good ghost shows on anymore. WHAT R THEY THINKING??? Are good ratings too much for them 2 handle?!

What a waste…and Jason Hawes, coproducer, went along with this crap??? was he desperate or something??? for crying out loud! and I agree, Long Island only??? so, now even the GHOSTS have to cater to Seinfeld's 'swelled head syndrome' demands??? good grief. Doubt I'll watch it for long, he's barely even funny as a comedian, I'm sure he'll suck at being a selfish ghost hunter!
I would rather see Brian come back. Although Jason is great by himself. You can’t replace Grant with a comedian. The show is not a joke! If you want funny, Brian was the only one that made the show funny. I loved him! But, I don’t watch ghosthunters to laugh! Come on really Jerry Seinfeld? I am a die hard fan and I it’s not going to work!
This ariticle fake right? I can't believe they pick Seinfeild. I agree with you Trisha, Meatloaf would of been a more of a productive team member instead of famoust entertainer. It kind of mocks the field. I am a ghost hunter because of that show. I finding myself watching it less, and more turned in to the other paranormal shows. Why could they just use the availible team? It makes me think the whole thing is a charade for ratings and not about researching the paranormal.
I agree with the other person that said meat loaf would be better than seinfeld at least meat loaf would take it serious. Ghost hunters already have enough trouble with non believers as it is ,& then you’er going to bring a joke to our awlsome show. Get it together!!!!.

I see this as the "Kiss of Death" to Ghost Hunters if this is really true. Most of us take the show seriously and feel it will just become a joke if he joins. If I want to watch comedy, I'll switch channels to see one, but not here.
I think now that Eureka is done, why not try to pair Jason with Colin Ferguson. Juust can't imagine
Jerry Seinfeld as a relacement for Grant on Ghost Hunters. My husband and I who really enjoyed the
show with Grant on it, just don't know how this will go with Seinfeld.
If we lose interest in the show we plan to watch The Haunted Collector instead, John Zaffis runs a tight ship like Grant and Jason.
Seinfeld is an Idiot… Who makes these lame decisions? If they believe this will even more produce the ratings their mistaken. I agree.. Meatloaf would be a better choice. Seinfeld will take this position like being on the stage of a Comedy Club….

You've got to be kidding!! I am a loyal fan of Ghost Hunters, have been for years, did'nt think it would ever become a comedy!! The paranormal is not a laughing matter. If Seinfield joins the group, the show will be over for me. I agree with Marie,to promote someone who is already on the team!!!! PLEASE don't mess up a great show by adding Seinfield!!!!!!!!!!
Very dissappointing indeed. I think not only is it a slap in the face to all the others in Taps but mostly to all the people whom take the paranormal a little more seriously. What a let down Jason! I must say good bye folks and thank you so much for 8 great seasons.
