LOS ANGELES – After NBC and Comcast merged on Friday, the company created a new logo. They’ve dropped the peacock in favor of Bat Boy.
NBC merged with Comcast and they immediately announced to their 25,000 employees at a town hall gathering on Thursday that there would be new logo for the company
The peacock has been killed. Bat Boy is the new symbol of NBC.
“The peacock is dead, long live Bat Boy!” said Comcast CEO Brian Roberts.
The company’s name is still NBC Universal. But the new corporate logo with Bat Boy is meant to represent the unity of its two main divisions as it is set to be taken over by cable operator Comcast in a deal that is to close on Friday. “We’re all for one, one for Bat Boy,” said Roberts.
Employees of both NBC and Comcast were all shocked that the new merged company chose Bat Boy, but after Roberts explained the decision, there was unanimous agreement about the selection.
“Roberts told us that the company needed an image of a tenacity and strength and Bat Boy embodies both of those characteristics,” said Brian Williams the host of NBC’s Nightly News. “I think our new logo tells our competitors that we mean business. We are going to crush everyone in the ratings!”
The new corporate bosses talked about looking for opportunities for synergy, not just among NBC Universal properties that include cable channels such as Bravo and E!, but with technology advanced by Comcast, said someone who attended the meeting.
Comcast took a 51 percent stake in NBC Universal after a yearlong regulatory review resulted in government conditions that prevent it from impeding the growth of online video services such as Netflix and Hulu.
Bat Boy has not yet been reached for comment. But he will be making an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Monday, January 31st.
Rumors are that Brian Roberts of ComCast read “Going Mutant: The Bat Boy Exposed” and loved it. YOU CAN GET IT HERE.
I tell you that is branding GENIUS. Just the change to purple is such a breathtaking, out of the box idea. Adding BatBoy and you know Comcast has some uber talent on board!
