KEALEY OLIVER SAVES THE DAY

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – One cheerleader took time out from doing summersaults to save the day!
Kealey Oliver may appear to be your normal, average cheerleader. The truth is that there is more than meets the eye with this 16-year-old. When she’s not doing summersaults and aerials, she’s busy saving the day. A would-be thief is in custody thanks to the efforts of Oliver.
The incident happened Sunday night at Penn Square Mall, police said. Oliver, a Moore High School junior, was on her cell phone, talking to her mother, when suddenly a man started running toward her.
“If I would have thought about it, I probably wouldn’t have done it,” Oliver said. “I was like, ‘Hang on, Mom,’ and I like put the phone down. And when he got close to me, I just got in his way and like grabbed him, and he kept trying to run, so I just slammed him on the ground.”
Her actions against the suspect gave mall security the chance to catch up, police said.
“I grabbed him and then put him on his stomach, and I was still holding onto him. I don’t even know,” Oliver said.
She said that at first she wasn’t even sure what she had done.
“I didn’t think. I was shaking. I was nervous. I didn’t know why I did that,” she added.
Oliver came out with a scratch on her arm and a bruise on her knee. The 16-year-old fights crime in style, however, as she did everything while wearing a dress.
“I was in a strapless dress, yeah,” Oliver said.
When planning his getaway, the shoplifter probably didn’t count on a teenage cheerleader to be his downfall. Of course, that is if the shoplifter planned anything at all. All in a day’s work for a cheerleader.
