NEW YORK, NY – The city that never sleeps got another dose of madness and chaos!
54 people arrested, four people shot and one more event to give New York City a less than stellar reputation. Nine of he 54 arrested were juveniles in connection with a riot and brawling crowds overtook Times Square on Sunday night.
One man was shot in the leg, two teenage women were shot in the arm and the leg, and a 21-year-old woman was shot in the face with a BB gun, police said. Hundreds of cops were called to the scene and struggled to disperse the mass crowd. Police are still trying to determine if the shooting were related to the disturbance.
“This kind of nonsense on Easter night has been going on for the five years I’ve been here,” said a security guard at a business on West 42nd Street.
Easter night has not been a pleasant night for NYC in the past. The NYPD and local businesses have ramped up security in the area on Easter Sunday, which has come to be known in some circles as “Gang Initiation Day.”
