MONTPELIER, VT – A Connecticut girl has shown that being disgusting isn’t always a bad thing!
Trinette Robinson, 11, made her parents proud by being crowned the winner of the 35th annual Odor-Eaters Rotten Sneaker contest on Tuesday. Robinson beat out eight other finalists and earned herself $2,500 and a trip to New York City where she will see “The Lion King.”
Her winning pair of sneakers saw a lot of mileage according to Robinson. She used them while working outdoors with a local Department of Environmental protection program, playing in Girl Scout Camp and community walks for charity.
“One thing I did to get them dirty – I stepped in horse manure,” she told the Hartford Courant.
Robinson, who hails from Bristol, Ct, will also be taking home the coveted Golden Sneaker award and a supply of Odor-Eaters to gaurd against any future run-ins with horse manure. The judges crowned the winner based on the conditions of the sole, tongue, heel, toe, laces, eyelets/grommets, overall condition and most importantly, the odor.
Next time your parents tell you to throw away your favorite pair of sneakers; you might want to think twice because they could certainly pay dividends.
