NEW YORK, NY – Little girls always pretend to be fairytale princesses. One woman played the same game and now she’s in timeout!
Antoinette Millard, a 46-year-old divorcee from Buffalo, made herself out to be a A Saudi Princess. Seven years ago she entered Michael Eigen Jewelers and went on a serious shopping spree. She purchased over $230,000 in Tahitian pearls and diamond pendants.
Millard used her “title” to receive invites to fancy soirees, sometimes attending in a tiara. Well, her fairytale has now come to an end and is facing charges for insurance fraud and for charging almost a million dollars on her American Express. Millard knew full well that she had no means to pay it off.
The “princess” is arguing that Eigen overcharged her and is complaining that she was only able to sell the jewelry for a fraction of what she paid at pawn shops. Damn pawn shop, wonder if they rolled out the red carpet for her?
Eigen’s lawyer, Lloyd Weinstein, has said that Millard’s claims are absurd. “If you’re desperate to get rid of something and take it to a pawn store, you’re not going to get 100 pennies on the dollar,” he said.
Millard took to court yesterday and in hopes of fighting off the suits against her. She stuck to her guns and argued that she had been duped. Millard has also claimed that she got mugged and robbed of more than $200,000 worth of jewelry. The mugging conveniently took place a day after she had it insured. Good luck pretty pretty princess.
