LINDSEY VONN

CANADA – Lindsey Vonn hopes that her backside is the only side of her that her competition gets to see in the upcoming Vancouver Olympics! This year’s Olympics is sure to be thrilling and amazing and Lindsey Vonn will have a hand in making that a reality. But she’s also having a hand in stirring up some controversy.

The Olympics haven’t even started and Lindsey is already starting to gain publicity – negative albeit. Lindsey is billed as one of the main attractions of these Olympics, but her recent Sports Illustrated Cover has people a little upset. (Man she makes taking hills sexy!)

The politically correct folks (for lack of a better word) are clamoring over her semi-provocative pose. Stating that it objectifies her and makes her a sex symbol. Taking away from her athlete statues. We would hate to see what would have happened if she showed a little forearm!

The naysayers of the cover have started to throw statistics out there and all that good stuff. Once statistics come to play, then you know it’s serious! According to them, over the past 60 years researchers have shown that about 4% of all SI covers have portrayed women. It’s a good thing that Lindsey’s pose doesn’t resemble the tuck position in skiing (sarcasm).

They need to realize that this partnership and the cover signifies more good than bad – if any. If Vonn cleans house at the Olympics, she has the potential to become one of the biggest female athletes in today’s world. SI on the other hand will benefit from helping to expose such a rising star. I would understand if SI put her in a bikini. For Steven Seagal’s sake! Don’t take this moment away from her.

Look at her stats people. Girl’s got skills and you rarely see her flaunting her stuff anywhere. Should she apologize for being attractive? Would this still be an issue if she was less than average?

Boom! That’s a pretty face. Would this same uproar come about if say Tom Brady took his shirt off for a magazine? Oh wait, that did happen and nothing came about from it. That’s a double standard people! Let the girl live!

All she’s trying to do is solidify her status as the best woman skier ever and it would take a sheer catastrophic event for that not to happen. Basically, it’s in the bag. Surely she didn’t mean to offend anyone and we can guarantee everyone that Lindsey sees nothing wrong with her cover. She’s only capitalizing on an immense opportunity that lies ahead of her.

So sit back and enjoy the show. And we repeat, let her live! Weird, she also looks good in a dress too.
