AVATAR HALLELUJAH MOUNTAIN

ZHANGJIAJIE – Chinese officials have renamed a mountain after the fictional range in the movie Avatar!
Local officials in the Zhangjiajie, Hunan province claim that the Hallelujah Mountains from the James Cameron film Avatar were based on their local mountains.
They said a photographer hired by the production company visited the Wulingyuan Scenic Area in 2008 to take reference photos.
In honor of the film, which has become the most popular movie ever in China, the mountain was officially renamed Avatar Hallejuah Mountain in a ceremony on Monday!
The move has been largely viewed as an attempt to capitalize on the roaring success of the film. The local government website has already adopted the slogan, “Pandora is far but Zhangjiajie is near”.
