GAITHERSBURG, MD – Former astronaut Edgar Mitchell stated at a UFO conference that extraterrestrial life exists and the government is actively covering it up.
Mitchell is a former NASA astronaut who was part of the 1971 Apollo 14 moon mission. He is credited with the longest moonwalk in history for his nine-hour walk in the Fra Mauro Highlands region of the moon. Having always had an interest in the paranormal, Mitchell even conducted ESP experiments during his Apollo 14 mission.
Since his retirement, Mitchell has been very vocal about his belief in extraterrestrials, interviewing on Dateline NBC, Fox News and Larry King Live.

Mitchell spoke at the fifth annual X-Conference, an event that brings together a group of speakers to discuss “the governmental, political and media aspects of 60+ years of extraterrestrial engagement and societal denial – exopolitics”. Other speakers that attended included Coast to Coast AM radio show host George Noory and famous author and archaeologist Graham Hancock.
Mitchell explained that, having grown up in Roswell, New Mexico, witnesses “didn’t want to go to the grave with their story. They wanted to tell somebody reliable. And being a local boy and having been to the moon, they considered me reliable enough to whisper in my ear their particular story.”
After these admissions, Mitchell used his highly-regarded status to speak confidentially with a Pentagon admiral, who confirmed the UFO crash at Roswell. He claims he has since spoken to government officials from three different countries who say they have had contact with aliens. He is now calling for NASA and the government to stop hiding evidence of alien contact and start being honest with the American public.
A NASA spokesperson responded: “NASA does not track UFOs. NASA is not involved in any sort of cover-up about alien life on this planet or anywhere else – period.”

I believe that it would be ignorant of me to think that we are the only life forms in this vast universe and we'd be short changing our creator and placing limits and barriers on god himself.

I agree that we should all demand production of evidence, but the goverment has many reasons to classify and cover up this information. First, they realize what Karl Marx observed (keep in mind that I am a Christian and have a deep faith in God): that religion is opium for the masses. The admission of the existence of extraterrestrials would topple some religious beliefs and technologically advanced races could take advantage of being heralded as gods. Secondly, the amount of technology required to travel any real distance (ie. beyond our solar system) with ease means that they are far in advance of our own technology. Government fears that people will lose faith in the governments' ability to protect them against a superior or advanced race. Thirdly, and this directly relates to the previous statement, goverment fears loss of control and possible overthrow by advanced races, due to being reduced to impotence by a population who no longer recognizes their power. No person or organization can exert power over another if the person governed does not give over that control to the one attempting to exert the power.

If tommorrow they announced on the news that life has been discovered, intelligent life, more intelligent than our own, it would result in social mayhem. it would totally shatter our earth bound perspectives. religous groups would claim the end days are here , the masses would riot and run amock with panic and fear. have you ever heard of the war of the worlds radio reading? people actually thought it was real! they went CRAZY. based on that incident, the government is trying to save our society by covering it up. there are intelligent individuals who want nothing more than to know we are not alone, and embrace it as a new era. but the masses are mostly dumb and still want to cling to the old ways. the old structures of life. it makes them happy and not go crazy

I asked and got from Rand Corporation their report on the possibility of alien life. They say there is a likelihood that 100,000 planets harbor life more advanced than our own. Thwe difficulty of crossing space to visit us is daunting, however. It is too far and too slow, even at light speed, from any of these planets. If anything iof this sort ios true, it is likely from of the "parallel universes" quantum physicists talk about. Dimensional barriers are probably permeable by one force or another.

Exactly what did I say that was foolish concerning ET? Humans are "dumb" so to say and will not accept their existence. I want to believe but how can humans simply hide beings with such great knowledge and technology. Plus, there are all the hoaxers out there that make a mockery of ETs existence.

The cover up came so the higher echelon people could make $$ on the technology just like Bush and Cheney did by trying to cover up the fact that they entered Iraq because both are huge stockholders in Halliburton and that the stockholders in the oil industry during their years made $19 TRILLION dollars per year of PURE PROFIT from it.

But going back to the aliens – seems like they found a good thing and wanted to hide it to make it work for themselves – think about it computers at that time were whole room jobbies run on punch cards and now a mere 60 years later the same amount of information can be used in a handheld device. – Reverse engineering and as usual the rich get richer the poor stay that way and we're all supposed to play dumb about it.

This is a brave man. He doesn't care what people think of him. Yet he's a WITNESS of alien life, we all who he is, so basically he can stand proud and say whatever he wants. Had he said these things some decades ago, he'd been slain.

how can we possibly say E.T. doesnt exist when obviously there is proof. many people believe in ghosts while others chose to ignore the fact we are NOT the only other people in this world. Hundreds have expierenced E.T., just like hundreds have had conflicts with ghosts. whether we chose to believe this or not there is evidence, nt only from him but many others in this world too.
