That can be possible. People got obessed with aliens and if they see anything that does not look like heavenly thing, they just immediately thought that they are aliens.

The additional visits were from aliens dropping in to watch their favourite TV program the Xfiles.

Maybe if the aliens would stop abducting dumb guys with mullet hairdos and trailer trash manicurists and started asking to be taken to our leader like proper space invaders we'd take them more seriously. Or maybe they just come here for the sex?

It's got to be true that there is other intelligent life in the universe, because there are actually more odds against there NOT being intelligent life somewhere out there. It's probably like Close Encounters of the Third Kind…hidden to us or maybe like Childhood's End…a fear of things to come that reverberated throughout history only to be proven true to existing generations and realized as a new age for the emerging one.
